Danae: So you don't have any super, magical powers, Lars? Lars: Nope. Sorry. Jeffrey: Well... He's being modest. Lars has an amazing ability to reach a conclusion based on facts and empirical observations, then assess actual results over preconceived notions. It's what the martians call, the power of reason. Danae: You mean there's no talk radio or cable news shows on Mars? Jeffrey: It'd explain how they got so advanced. Lars: ...And keeps us in hiding here.

Based on facts and empirical observations, I have assessed the actual result that reason doesn’t matter much when you can shoot lightning from your eyes.

Common sense, so rare it’s a super power…
green_engineer over 15 years ago
Danae is taking this pretty well. I mean how many people would spot a martian and then strike up a completely normal conversation with them rather than scream to the tabloids about it?
Didn’t we once used to have this ’Power of Reason’ ability?

Danae wants the credit for herself, she doesn’t want to share it with some tabloid reporter.

Yo Saint, you sure you mean eyes?

A little common sense and reasoning would go a LONG way in our society these days…

green_engineer, you did remember the amount of practice that Danae has listening to Captain Eddie’s spins?

A world where’s there’s no Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity. How about all-news radio?

Common sense and reasoning are almost an alien concept here

No talk radio, no cable news? Sounds like paradise to me! Can I live there?
bmwk12ltc over 15 years ago
Hey Cartwrights, you already do if you just use the off button. It’s all about the personal choice to just say “I’m not going to listen to it anymore”.
cartwrights over 15 years ago
bmwk12ltc: I don’t listen or watch that stuff at all, but too many other people around me do listen and watch. I can’t avoid them! And too many people in this country listen and watch! That’s the problem!

If they are based on clear headed reason they must have learned to survive without the New York Times.

Is that a fact or what? I doubt it. Do we have super power here in this Earth? No, we don’t have that kind of super power. We are just ordinary human beings. Rolled up the eyes! Yes I believe that we can use the common senses. I use it all the time. Some of the people who don’t have common senses, are nitwit!

What a fun storyline. Frightening even. Satire at it’s best.

Try NPR and PBS for a welcome relief from talk radio, news shows and commercials. It’s not all “elevator” music anymore.
gopuppy over 15 years ago
… and if even NPR and PBS are too much for you, then there is always the “off” switch. Requires very little muscle tone to operate.

Alien Life, Alien Logic, Danae’s Winning Persona,………..Mixing all of these attributes together; is libel to be more toxic than the Common Cold.

lets all take a break from logic and look at my avatar!!!

Potrzebie, I can’t listen to NPR “on principle”. The first station I knew of which affiliated with NPR was Atlanta’s WGST.
(to any Canuck or former Canuck, GST is expanded as “Gouge & Scr#w Tax”)
stewartava over 15 years ago
…although fascinated by what “principle” an aversion to National Public Radio could be realistically based,… I think I’d rather just say: “Good one Wiley Miller! Touche again, and Thank you for that!”

Let’s go to that place, anywhere but here…. no more cable bills.

Funny, I always thought Rush Limblow was an alien.

The “off” switch isn’t always yours to turn – I was once stuck in an office where the secretary had Flush on everyday, followed by Dr. Laura – and no escape. I was an unpaid intern in a mental health clinic and stuck there for 9 months. I sure felt “born again” when I finally escaped back to NPR!!
thenamebywhichiamreferredto over 15 years ago
In regard to NPR they are interesting if I want to see a severe eastern slant shen facing due south.

I thought Wiley believed it was religion that kept us from advancing, but now its the media? that figures, religion actually gave us so many scientific advances, but DIDNT give us the media!
Archistoteles almost 3 years ago
Hey “kaystari”, I already asked you to give some examples of all the advancement you say that your religion provided. Haven’t seen anything yet.
