Nope, cats are solar powered and when solar power isn’t abundantly available, they’re heat-powered.

OR blame those treehuggers for traveling to these places too much.

That’s why they’re called catastrophies.

We have two black cats, and there’s nowhere they’d rather be than sleeping in a sunbeam, baking from the outside in… utterly amazing…

This comes as no surprise for me. I always knew cats were evil.

Why make the bed? Every time I walk in the bedroom there is a football sized lump under the comforter.

I’m with Garfield. There’s something bigger than me affecting the bloody climate, and it’s coming up about now. Sunbeam, anyone?

Cats love to be warm and toasty in the winter but in the summer they hate the heat. Go figure.

Who else besides Jon? Odie most of the time can’t walk without tripping over his tongue besides he hasn’t figured out how to reach it much less move it.

When I was a kid, the first atomic submarine Nautilus traveled to the North Pole and surfaced through just six inches of ice. Doesn’t seem like a lot to me, and it was long enough ago that I don’t think anyone would blame that on recent human activity.

Meantime, in Antarctica, everyone is going on about the icebergs calving off the ice floes, but you rarely hear that the mile-thick ice in the interior is getting thicker.

Oh yes, the polar icecaps on Mars are shrinking. So far nobody’s found a way to blame that on mankind.

Variously spelled, my last name is fairly common among German and English last names. My spelling is unusual in being German in the SCH but not in the EA. Most of us stem from Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants, though at least one more came over around 1900 from Switzerland.

As for the persons you ask about, I don’t know them. Are you sure of the spelling? And are you any relation to Mrs. Paul’s? :-)

People need to learn the difference between weather and climate.

The comments on these comic strips have convinced me beyond any doubt that there is a bad side to instant communication (as if Twitter hadn’t already done that…) This comic strip is a joke, people. Davis is making a joke. There’s no need to drag in politics and your belief or non-belief in global warming is not the point. If you don’t find the joke funny, move on. I find it sad that Joe-Allen had to explain it.

Susan, it’s not the same really. I think most of us are pretty comfortable with temperatures between 70-80. In my case it’s more like 70-75, after that I feel a bit too warm. In the winter we never heat our homes beyond about 70 I don’t think, at that temperature we are warm and toasty. But the summers can get to 95 or higher and that’s way too hot especially when you factor in humidity. So warm and toasty in winter is around 70 degrees which no one would complain about in the summer. I wish it never went beyond 80 in summer. Sorry to have rambled but some things are a bit hard to explain.

Why would a cat want such a high temperature if he has all that fur?

As long as they don’t stop making frozen pudding pops
