DigitalFrog - Ford actually makes/made a car called the Probe? Wow, talk about your marketing mistakes.

NickV–Ford made the Probe at the same time Chevrolet made the Celebrity, leading Jay Leno to remark that accident reports were starting to look like Hollywood scandal sheets–Celebrity Gets Probe In Rear!

And how would you like to hear this from your date: “I’ll pick you up at eight. I’ll bring my Probe…”

Tonight on Newsline, we begin our in-depth analysis of probing. We’re going to dig deep and bring you the straight poop, no ifs, ands or buts.

    Sphincter!

(That last bit is from “Family Guy.”)

3 guys were talking in a bar about their cars, and 1 of them says “I have the perfect car for my job, I’m a cowboy and I drive a Mustang”. The second guy says, “check this out - I’m an optometrist, and I drive a Focus”. Theird guys says, “I can beat you both - I’m a proctologist, and I drive a brown Probe”!

Isn’t Winky an orphan? (Maybe Killbot got them and that’s why Dr. Mel has taken him under his wing.)

For me, the Ford Probe brand name evoked (as it was meant to) the idea of “space probe” (due to its allegedly high-tech appearance and concept), not “brain probe”, “rectal probe”, or any other kind of bodily “probe”. Apparently my mind is on a higher plane than average around here. :P

(For that matter, there was a made-for-TV movie called Probe which was turned into a TV series called Search. I had to admit at the time - and I was still quite young then - that the switch was a good decision.)

“Probe” on Wikipedia (see in particular the article on the car):
