I DO like the direction the story’s going in. I’m looking forward to seeing the positive changes in Upton as he continues to read the Good Book. It’s not called that for no reason.
I am genuinely curious where this one is going. Wasn’t there an old western with, maybe Glenn Ford, where an outlaw hid out as a pastor of a church, and by the time they found him, he was a different man? This is an interesting story line.
Yes angels do have wings. And yes Cherubs with flaming swords were put in place to guard the Garden of Eden.
Read Ezekiez and you find the what Ezekiel saw
Original sin != the First Sin. Original sin is the Bent soul we all inherit from Adam, which makes it impossible for us to become/be good on our own. The theory of classic Christianity is that God gives you Grace (power to do what is right despite bent nature) to begin obeying what you know (repentance), which starts a long process of learning, and struggling to put theory into practice and overcome sin.
When it doesn’t seem to be working (the “christian” is the same jerk he always was), there are two main explanations: 1) the “conversion” wasn’t authentic (Once Saved Always Saved) 2) the conversion was authentic but the christian chose to rebel (as opposed to failing to overcome temptation due to weakness).
Which does the most harm? 1) A doctor who warns you about the health hazards of smoking, but is himself a chain smoker. 2) A doctor who doesn’t smoke himself, but assures you it is harmless.
NotNormanChubsyUbsy you are never happy. We could have a storyline with every original character still left living in GA and you would gripe about it. GA has always been about family values, and in America most of those values circle around the book called The Holy Bible. That’s just how it is. If GA was set in Baghdad those values would be around the Koran. Slim is going to figure back into this mess somewhere…and you’ll still be unhappy.
As for Angels, I had heard the actual transation is ‘messenger’. God sends messengers. If you watch The Nativity Story you’ll see the angel who came to Mary depicted as a rather human looking male. No wings, just the local equivilant of a business suit.
I wish I could see this amazing art at a large size, high-resolution.
I like the story so far. I don’t love it as much as the landmark Earl/Gertie saga, but it’s entertaining. When this is finished, I’d like to see the return of Earl Lee Byrd. I don’t believe he would give up on Gertie as easily as that.

Speaking of fruits, what kind of “man” would rather read by the light of a kerosene lamp than hop in bed with a voluptuous female?

Just because he’s interested in the Bible, for apparently the first time in his life, doesnt make him any less of a man. What kind of man looks at a woman and doesnt see anything other than her body?

How is that for holier than thou, Chubs?

A meteor is about to strike the earth, and Upton and Ramona Lisa will be the only two survivors…

Adam and Eve revisited…Here we go again folks. How would the serpent play into this story line? Bet they are one near by.

Is my recollection faulty or was it a female who seduced Adam into original sin?

I must agree with Notnorman on this story line. The Sunday strip is often times preachy enough to be off putting, like Ziggy.
