Now wait a minute. Liz is talking to Dick using a standard (nine-button keypad) cell phone… How is her face appearing in Dick’s fancy two-way wrist thingy? Where’s the camera? Is it floating above Liz’s face like the little flying cameraman following the action in the Super Mario games?
For the sake of the younger followers, Dick Tracy wasn’t like this a few years ago. It went consistently over the top when Locher took over. Us oldsters who have followed Tracy all our lives didn’t have to put up with this stuff until recently. Believe me. Oh, we took a little Moon stuff, but not like this.
Lizz alway’s felt that Tracy couldn’t handle any situation that required any intelligence. She knew he was an old geezer that needed to be put to pasture. But how? She sadly realized that once again she needed to save Dick’s butt.
“Tracy, I’m sending backup. What’s your situation?”
“Maybe if she spent more time doing real police work instead of hanging out at headquarters with that weasel Sam this broad would know what was happening”, Tracy muttered to himself. He still couldn’t believe they made her chief over him.
“You wouldn’t believe what I’m witnessing, chief!” Tracy said, ticked off that he had to call her chief. He felt so degraded.
“Is it our robot, Dick?” Lizz really didn’t care at all about Dick. It was the Robot she was worried about. She was certain she could find something useful for Robo-Dick to do for her.
“Our robot, OUR ROBOT? Over my dead body” Dick wanted to scream. He wished she was there so he could give her the beating she deserved. The nerve of her, claimimg any ownership of his robot. Robo-Dick was his and his alone. Dick realized then that ‘Chief’ Lizz would have to be dealt with ASAP. He knew he had to play along for the time being.
“Not just ours-but another one!”
“Two of them”? Lizz thought, as a smile crossed her lips and she suddenly had a twinkle in her eyes. She began to imagine the possibilites.
Hmmm— I wonder if we can get Bassman Bob to star writing the Dick Tracy comic in place of Dick Locher? His story line in the short we have in this thread is certainly more interesting– but probably not fit for family viewing if it goes where I suspect it goes.

The strip, as it is right now, is not fit for family viewing anyway. Family members from tot to Grandpa walk away dazed and confused after reading it.

Hmm, it’s probably just an amazing coincidence, but today, MF bears a startling resemblance to this obscure character:

(throws some leftover candy corn at both robots) Come on, you two tinheads! Mix it up already!

Which one’s head will pop up first?

Wow, Liz is finally sending backup. How long has it been since Tracy asked for backup?

Okay, Runar, you’ve just revealed to everyone that you’re old!

Panel 2 is a great example of crappy artwork. The rest is a great example of poor story telling

2nd panel: Remove the comma from Liz’s response through the two-way - and you have a totally different storyline.
One a tad more exciting… ;)

Why does Liz use a standard phone? Because she has read that wrist radios cause your wrist to swell and your hand to get flat.

Yeah, the slow destruction of a great comic strip. Oh the humanity of it all.

And just what might that ‘back-up’ be?
Oh - a BIG magnet, maybe - uhm hum …

Is it simply the tiny font in the dialogue, or do we now have typos too?
On my display it looks as if Liz says: “What’s youp situation?”
Youp?
