Check out the perspective in panel three… Angeldust (and her steering wheel) now appear to be OUTSIDE of the car.

She can’t get far…Tracy, get some of the Professor’s stuff (not the perfume!) And a car chase!!!!

Panel Three should say…”I can’t see where this lame story is going….”

Hey, I think Angel*g)lorious has set a new record for how far a blind person has driven a car without crashing into something.

A comedic genius is a person who means for something to be funny, and achieves that goal.

Here though, we have what’s supposed to be a dramatic, adventure strip, that really isn’t meant to be funny. But, today’s strip is so poorly written, that it’s turned out to be utterly hilarious.

The flaws are self-evident. I won’t bother to point them out.

It makes me wonder…

Is there a more competent artist waiting in the wings for when DL finally retires? Or, will DT be taken over by someone who’s been trained in the DL ways?

Panel one: 2face, on loan from Batman is whispering to Tracy ” Tracy! She’s getting away”. Tracy can not possibly hear Doc’s shockingly obvious statement from his distance from Doc. Doc’s car is leaving furrows in the snowfall despite having no snow on it.

Panel 2: Tracy says it all.

Panel 3: Analodious is has managed to drive to Milwaukee while unsighted.

Even car chases take forever in this story line. Which has now gone of for how many weeks?

I’m betting Angelorious will end up hitting a tree, house, or other immovable object. She can’t see, remember? Then, while she’s sitting there dazed, Tracy will come up and arrest her, just about the same time the backup he requested shows up. She gets taken to jail, Tess gets the real perfume but decides not to market it, end of story, new villian appears…

Given panel 2, is it remotely possible a new writer has come aboard and is trying to get out of this plot quickly?

Noll watched as Tracy drove away in his car, weaving like the old goat he was. “Tracy, she’s getting away”, Noll yelled, trying to get the story back on track. Tracy couldn’t believe he’d fallen this low. Sadly, he realized the glory days were long gone and would never return. “I’m chasing a blind woman and my car has only a few drops of fuel – this is nuts”. Angelorious knew that HankF was already dropping her and siding up with the others. “What a double crossing, back stabbing, disloyal weasel he turned out to be”. She muttered to herself. “I can’t see, but I must escape”! she exclaimed as the tears of betrayal fell from her eyes.

(Side note; I found out where DL gets his stories from! I was watching Boomerang with my kid over the weekend. There’s an old cartoon called the Robonic Stooges. There’s an episode called “Don’t fuel with a fool”. It’s about a sexy chick (sorry ladies) that’s trying to get the formula for a super fuel from a crazy doctor who can’t remember what the formula was. The 3 stooges have to try and stop her in a wild car chase. Inspiring!!! )

I just found another little flaw that’s not real obvious.

In panel two, it appears that there’s a turn signal light on each side of the speedometer. But, an American-made car with an upright windshield would have been made prior to the 1941 introduction of turn signals.

I know, just a nit-picky detail, maybe not even worth pointing out in light of all of the other obvious screw-ups with this strip.

Here in Dick Tracy we have only one Stooge trying to stop her, it’s not Viller; names, Tracy!

Sam Stooge, Lt. Stooge and Lizz Stooge can’t respond just like 911. It seems the only Squad Car assigned to Napewrville HQ, is out of gas. And I guess their continuing failure of respond or communicate as to why; is the reason why Tracy hasn’t bothered to call them again following the second shooting and for help in the new chase !(??)

The car in the first panel looks like a Model-A.

^ That was Nubby’s car that, depending on what day it was, either was there or not.

Doesnt Dick have some kind of radio? Maybe he could call for backup? Or is he too big and bad for that? He won’t be able to kill her in some gruesome fashion with other cops as witnesses.

Hey, what about the wrist genie? Doesn’t that work any more?
