we can only wish THESE guys were doing the strip instead of THOSE guys
maybe Gertie will got downstairs with her oil-lamp and set the basement (with all the sacks of cash) ablaze after a struggle causes her to drop the flaming lamp.
Gertie picked herself off the floor and sadly walked towards the window. Brushing aside the curtains with her deformed left hand she hoped against hope that her man would suddenly appear. She wasn’t surprised that she didn’t see him, although she did notice that there were car headlights heading towards her.
“B.O. and Tracy have been gone too long and I see headlights comin’ down the road”.
Gertie thought, hoping that the car would run over something she could cook for tomorrow’s dinner.
“My guess is it ain’t B.O. or the police”.
Gertie knew that if B.O. and Tracy weren’t home early then they wouldn’t be back until they staggered in drunk like skunks. She hated how they would enter the house holding onto each other. She hoped their buddies Sydney, Morrow, and that duck Ludwig weren’t with them. She felt they were the one’s who encouraged them to behave like moronic Magpies.
“Bah”! she spat out, thinking of them and wishing they would just disappear.
“One of these days I’ll make Magpie stew out of them”. She sinisterly thought.
Continuing to look at the arriving cars she mustered a little grin, somehow changing the shape of her chin as she muttered under her breath;
Hope it ain’t bad news”.
That Nighthawks link is good. Great, clean Gould-like art. I don’t know about wanting to resurrect old characters, but the craftmanship would be a dramatic improvement.
nighthawks, I also thank you for the link on the artwork (actually, the entire page is interesting reading) . The artwork therre is truly great, clean crisp with a very strong feel of drama. Ooohhh, if only, …… Today’s Tracy seems to have gone the route of the prize in the Cracker Jack’s box.

Your hopes are futile, Gertie.

Gertie looking a bit like a “muppet” in Panel 3.
I agree with margueritem. Your hopes are futile. Just like the Borg.

Sydney thanks for the link. At least we’re not the only ones who have a problem with what’s going on with the strip.
