Whoa! The Slide! Time to regroup before self esteem erodes. But at this stage it is a bit like the “grieving process”.

Will TJ lead Brad down the Primrose Path to perdition? Or will our gallant chap show some spunk and rally for the sake of his Toni? —Stay tuned, Luann fans!

Odd, I seem to need to get a new password every time I want to sign in and comment. Does anyone else find the same?

At least TJ is trying to get Brad’s mind off of his lay off. That’s what friends are for.

Let’s hope we don’t have a whole week of sadness like this. Has he talked to Toni? Is it more than an hour after he got the news? Will we now rehash it all again to T J., including Toni’s remarks about her brother? Don’t sit around, do something.

Brad went through this before, when he at first failed the Fire Fighter practical exam. Toni essentially told him to snap out of his funk, workout at the guym to get in shape and try again.

i think, after a strong push from Toni, he finds a new career.

Well, he could go back to being an EMT. He also has mechanical knowledge, and a good auto mechanic is always in demand.

The presence of TJ makes every storyline ten times more awesome. I think by this point, I have an idea of how this guy’s mind works. As much as TJ likes living with the Degroots, he will do his best to prevent his buddy from moving in with mommy. The most obvious solution would be to cover the entire rent while Greg chronicles a couple of weeks of hopelessly searching the want-ads and humorously failed job interviews. What will probably happen, though, is TJ will either (1) push Brad to move in with Toni, (2) convince Brad to keep the information secret from Toni (resulting in a complex scheme when Toni decides it’s time for her brother Jonah to visit Brad’s firehouse to see a real man at work), or (3) Start a new business with Brad. That way, TJ gets to scheme, Brad gets a job (however shady) for a few weeks before the scheme backfires, and Jonah gets to see Men At Work. Didn’t he and Brad have a landscaping business a while back? Then there was the time when they offered people to put their Christmas lights up for $50.

I bet theres a really horrid fire and they finally see how understaffed the fire station is and Brad volunteers and they end up re-hiring him. AND I think TJ and Toni will be at his side during this and will definitely help him and his mental state during Brads crisis.

Sideshow Starlet…. I really enjoyed your idea of… “[TJ will] convince Brad to keep the information secret from Toni (resulting in a complex scheme when Toni decides it’s time for her brother Jonah to visit Brad’s firehouse to see a real man at work)”… this would be a very interesting and entertaining turn of events for a while and then could be easily rectified by the position re-opening at the station (perhaps due to a retirement or something).

Take it up with Greg. Some men like to keep their hands in pockets. It is a man thing – not something a female can relate to cuz we don’t don’t do that. It is not a reflection of one’s character – just a habit, just like some people cross their arms, hold hands at their belly, bite fingernails, etc. Apparently this is a pet peeve with you?

Brad is already lounging. He really should go to UI office, go on internet to check out other jobs where he can use his experience and training…anything but lounge around. It is very easy to get into this habit, and before he knows it, it’s been a year and he would still be unemployed.

Also, Brad does not need to find a NEW career. He needs to find a new job in the same career.

while i agree that brad needs some support from toni, i think that could easily become overdone. no, the final impetus to get brad back on his feet needs to come from brad himself.

I also expect TJ to step up this time (and we may learn more about him) and Toni certainly cares enough for Brad -but not to quit her job!

No more than an hour and a half may have passed since Brad got the bad news.

Toni may be on a night shift and be sleeping. and thus not even available so far for consultation.

But she will find out quick enough.

All the fire stations will be abuzz with rumors.
