Grandma: Ahhh, the first day of summer vacation. No getting up early, no frantic rush to get the kids to school. Grandma: No plans, no schedule, no routine. Just me, the two kids and lots and lots of free time. Grandma: Boy, am I in for it.

and here in Northern CA my daughter has already been out for a while, going into her 3week of summer break, but she goes back early too (mid august)

Schools around here have been out for 3 or 4 weeks. They go back in early August. When I was in grade school, it started the day after Labor Day, and ended the first week of June.

School calendars are different everywhere. There’s something to be said for overscheduling.

Mike’s right. My school doesn’t end until Friday, but my siblings’ school ended on Monday. My parents are school freaks, and they won’t let me skip school unless I’m sick or hurt.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Kate without her glasses on, but so far I haven’t seen Gabby without her glasses in a long time yet.
