Junior remembers that most of the crooks in this city have names related to what they do (or what they look like). Someone who traffics in illegal copies of movies could easily have the name Steele!
WW, you’re back! Excellent as usual. When Staton/Curtis and Co. took over, they took away the pathetic material that inspired your writing, and you went and revamped your style and didn’t miss a beat!
Joe/Mike/et al, THANKS again for how you’ve reimagined this once again wonderful strip.
VB – your 15 minutes arrived today! Except, it’ll last not only all day, but into tomorrow! As Aunt Marg said, “Way Cool !” And somehow or other, I think WW rose to the occasion, as his trubite to you parallels your accolades and feat. To everyone, I raise my glass in toast to each other!
WOW……VistaBill……..this is such an honor and tribute to a really fine friend!!!!WW ……how wonderful your poem is! Thanks for sharing your talent! And, of course to Mike Curtis for honoring our friend!!!
For those who wonder what the people doing Tracy look like, we held a Tracy Summit recently in Memphis. Joe and I and Jim Doherty along with our wives and fans Bill and Rosemary Earl. On Facebook, Joe has posted some pix, as well as one when we took in the midnight show of GREEN LANTERN, which Joe is also known for.
The disguise reminds me of the hippies in Jack Webb’s “Dragnet” series (the one with Harry Morgan) and on “Hawaii Five-O.” They were always unconvincing to anyone who knew the real thing. Great homage to the classic cop genre!
Yesterday, the subject of Dick Tracy Jr.’s actual assignment came up.
Although, Junior is a fully sworn detective in the police department, he is NOT a member of the Major Crime Unit.
As a sketch artist, he would be assigned to the Forensic Services Section.
However, inasmuch as Tracy is both Chief of Detectivesand commander of the MCU, he can borrow him for field assignments as needed.
Actually, as it happens, at the moment the Chicago Police, the real-life counterpart for Tracy’s force, does not have a full-time sketch artist on its staff.
“Eislander” may have something to do with the proposal in Iceland to have those who are seeking to stop copyright infringement on websites go to a court to have the material taken down.

Agree on the cool shoutout, and props to WW for his poem. Curious as to whether the Vista Bill poster was thought of by Curtis or Staton.

Jackie Steele? Was it ever established what Junior’s real first name was? Was it Jackie? I remember his real parents.

A very nice touch to today’s strip from the Dick Tracy team.

There been Trigger, Fury, Flicka, Mr. Ed. Silver…….

Junior just make a mistake by asking about “…movies currently in theaters” directly – it could come back as entrapment.
M.C. must have been tired when he wrote this strip.
