Kitty appears to be intoxicated by the way she looks.

Those bubbles over Kitty’s head are the same as when Snuffy Smith drinks from his jug. I think Kitty got into th’ corn squeezin’s

Rufus, show her those spiffy polka dot pajamas. She is sure to be impressed.

Rufus and the vet look like they’re characters from two different comic strips.

axe-grinder, I believe you are correct! It is Dr. Michelle Managan, It looks just like her and “Her interests include feline medicine, dentistry, and emergency medicine.” Is GA around Charlotte NC?

Oh my, all this time we’ve been worried that poor kitty may die and she may simply be drunk? Oh my!

Yes, Scancarelli lives in North Carolina like Dr. Managan. I suspect there are other characters that appear here which are cartoon versions of real folk

I know some find his mixing the classic characters with real people charming, but I’ve found it annoying from the get-go. To each his own.

North Carolina? I thought Gasoline Alley was set in Wisconsin in Frank King’s original home town?

Could she be in a ‘family way’? Boogie Woogie should be questioned.

I’ve never been to a vet clinic where we couldn’t go back with our pet to the treatment room. Usually it helps calm the pet, and us, down.

Sorry Chubsy…winters in the upper South - particularly in mountainous regions such as the Ozarks or Appalachia - can be pretty fierce.

I had to work from home for an entire week last year during an ice storm, and that’s a fairly common occurance.

Jim frequently incorporates real people into his strip. Yes Axegrinder that really is Dr. Managan! I understand Teri the waitress at Corky’s Diner is a real person who is a Native American.

JAD et al; King may have used locals as well, but I think we’ve established that Jim is in or around Charlotte, and probably gets a kick out of incorporating friendly locals - and maybe a few other percs in the neighborhood…

And oh yes, weather patterns in SC when I was at Beaufort could get pretty wild; not much snow, but a frosting, and then the hurricanes! Go VMFA-232 Checkerboards!
