As my kids were passing through their teens and causing me no end of worry, I asked my mom one day when they would get old enough so that I didn’t have to worry about them all the time. She said, “I’ll let you know!”

I like Grandma’s sly sense of humor.

According to my mom the only time you stop being a mother is when you close your eyes for good… Miss you Mom and Dad. It was my dad that kept telling me to clean my plate and in front of the grand kids…

And you usually don’t get to stop parenting them. I’m still having to do that for my own kids at times and they’re in their 30’s (and they come to me on their own for help, advice and firm handed parenting counsel) I don’t go force it on them).

Enjoy it while you can, Ellie. I know what your reaction will be twenty years from now, when Michael and Deanna call you at three in the morning because THEIR kids and their lives are becoming more than they can handle:....(wait for it…)......“YAY!!!!! THEY NEED ME!!!!!”

No longer a baby, but a preschooler.
