Good thing you arenât so religious that you took time to actually read âGodâs Wordâ in the bible. There were a lot more than 10 of Godâs laws (called the commandments). Iâve been to Catholic bible study groups and when I bring this up by reading the actual âlawsâ from the Old Testament, and everything grinds to a halt in the study groups. It always ends with astonishmentâŠâŠ.especially about the ignorance of those present about what the bible actually says. I always get invited back âŠâŠâŠâŠâŠ.
God spake unto me the other day and said that every ancient holy book on earth is baloney and the people who try to lead their lives by them are fools. Thatâs what he said. What? You donât believe me? O ye of little faith!
Actually the âtoon seems about parr for televangelists, and the âextremely devoutâ in all the âfollowers of the bookâ. As to all those LAWS, not just the âcommandmentsâ, anyone complaining about Islam or sharia law obviously hasnât read the OT. Of course the bottom line in almost all those laws was, âgive your wealth, or at least the best of it, to the priests (rabbis)â.
i subscribe to the golden rule â do unto others as you would have them do unto you. i prefer not to discuss religion because, even though they all have the same basic message of living with oneâs neighbours in peace and treating each other kindly, they tend to get bogged down in minute differences of emphasis â causing no end of trouble.
Thatâs pretty impressive. I figured any atheist would have a problem someone who claimed to be a deity, and required his followers to accept him as lord and master.
Religion can be wonderful; itâs when it gets Organized, that it starts being about the Building Fund and the Organization, and loses sight of its roots in the soil.We arenât human beings having a spiritual experience; weâre spiritual beings having a human experience! âThomas Merton, IIRC

My three year old announced after Sunday school that she knew the ten commandments. âThou shall do nothing!â

People who actually take the time to read the Old Testament are shocked when they realize what a psychopath God really is.

Sitting on the dashboard of my car;
He donât slip, and he donât slide;
His little feet are magnetized. . . .
Well, I donât care if it rains or freezes,
Long as I have my plastic Jesus
Riding on the dashboard of my car
Through all trials and tribulations,
We will travel every nation,
With my plastic Jesus Iâll go far.
