The plugger would actually get a better signal as over-the-air broadcasts aren’t compressed (like cable and satellite). I rediscovered rabbit ears a year ago… much better signal for my local channels.
I still use rabbit ears since I refuse to pay for 8 channels I can get for free. Besides that, this 80 year old Plugger has a LIFE to live…not sitting on my blessed assurance watching everyone else screw up their lives.
I agree rabbit ears are good for these new fangled tv’s, but I sorely miss the knobs for on/off and channel switching. When they told me the button filled thingie was remote for that stuff, well then those guys can come back and find it for me!
@hsawlrae I’m 67 and agree with you. I had cable with 23 channels but, by the time you eliminated all the duplicate channels and those not worth watching I only got 8 channels and was paying close to $40.00 per month. Now with 20 year old rabbit ears I can still get 8 channels (some are different than cable) and NOT pay the cable company $40.00 a month. Isn’t technology wonderful? Of course when it gets windy or the sun is in the right postion in the right time of the year, the picture either pixelates or just goes away (no signal) Just love this digital c—p!With this new HD stuff what I really enjoy is the “surround sound” coming from my 2 speaker HDTV! Truly amazing(??)
We have a few HD broadcast channels, but you need to live downtown to get by with rabbit ears. Raw cable had a few, too, if you were too cheap to get a box. I am trying dish now. They think HD ends at 480P 60 HZ, but it looks great. Maybe our Toshiba’s like it, as they upconvert to 1080P 120 HZ gracefully. Who delivers the most pixels per second per channel?

True that. I’m thinking of “cutting the cord” (cable) myself.

That is because a plugger knows cable or satalite TV have a come-on price that is too expensive the second year.

Hey, us senior pluggers remember sitting and watching a show called “Test Pattern” for hours. It was wonderful!
