Blaze Rize! Sounds like a stripper name. But Mumbles and Doubleup together? This is going to be a linguistic nightmare, never mind the nefarious deeds Blaze wants from them….
“Wyatawk zofune?” Mumbles! Added to Doubleup, Blaze Rize and (don’t forget) B-B Eyes! This just keeps getting better!(Of course, after writing some of their dialogue, Mike may not be able to speak in whole sentences anymore. Could he qualify for workmen’s compensation?)
@idesama:I agree with your comment earlier this morning, but I do have one question maybe you know the answer to:How did Mumbles survive the second drowning in the 50’s? It was explained that George Ozone rescued him from the sinking life raft in his first appearance, but I am looking at the 50’s strip right now where Tracy says: “Mumbles is anchored to the bottom with gear twisted around his neck in six feet of water.” And a few days later, he and Sam load the body into a wagon, and Tracy says “To the morgue.” Did something happen after that? Thanks.
When Kilian brought Mumbles back after his second drowning in the 1950s, it was established that he survived that one by using yoga techniques taught to him by George Ozone and he’s been running around in the strip ever since. I would have to research my strips in order to get the exact date. Undoubtedly this appears in one of Andy Feighery’s Spec Production books.
Actually Max Collins came up with the plot device of Mumbles using Yoga techniques to simulate his death from the second drowning. That took place in the Cloning of Mumbles storyline in the late 80’s.
While I used to think I didn’t like Moon Maid, bringing her back would make an interesting story in itself, though not a crime story. Remember Junior is now married to B. O. & Gretie’s daughter. Thus he would find himself with two wives like Dean Martin did in Marilyn Monroe’s last unfinished movie “Somethings Got to Give”.
In my opinion, the whole moon saga was the only major misstep in Chester Gould’s career. Dick Tracy is a police detective in a major American city. Please let the moon stories rest in peace.
I think the Moon people have allied with Sailor Moon’s lunar relatives in the Silver Millennium, and are currently fighting against the Decepticon threat, with the aid of the Sailor Scouts. I think Magneto has also asked the Govenor if he can create a Mutant Haven in the Moon Valley. If granted such, he and his mutant allies, will also assist in the battle against the Decepticons. HEY! IT COULD HAPPEN!
Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.
My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.
There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song, I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before. The other type (this type) is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator.
End Intro

The fact that there is a doubled-up bit of swearing in the last panel is what makes this strip truly hilarious.

What’s so amazing is that Doubleup can actually understand what Mumbles is saying; no mean feat, that!

Blaze Rize? Interesting name….
I also like how she refers to DoubleUp and Mumbles – “those lunatics”.
