No high school coach would call one of his own players all-world. But then, no one interviewing a high school coach would talk about “stud linebackers.” Marty raises an interesting point, though — what percentage of Gil’s players graduate?
P3: Great. Parent attending practice living vicariously through their child. This is MILFord, not Little League. To lureman: My HS Coach, former UK All-SEC end had multiple personalities and we called him Sybil. Care to predict the UK-UL score Saturday?
I’m starting to sense a dark side to this comic, whether it be the alternative Star Trek universe, or perhaps even just a bad omen of things to come. The artist is demonstrating this well with the constant frames of players, coaches, and parents in the shadows. Perhaps Milford will experience some of what the rest of the country is facing. Marty will ask, “is this the hope and change you were looking for?” to which Gil will answer in a scream a la Denny Green, “IT IS THE HOPE AND CHANGE WE THOUGHT IT WAS.”

Yeah, right. They’ll still finish the season 0-11.

When are they going to figure out they need a kicker?

What in the world is that in panel 3, some kind of big old alley cat sneaking through the offensive line?

The artist’s “shadow” panels make good Rorschach tests.

Wake me up when Molly comes back. Although I am glad to see some other readers are tracking the alien presence.

P1: What Gil is really thinking….“I would like to stick these fingers up your nose!”

I guess that’s Marty’s hand in P1 — anatomically impossible to be Gil’s hand. Looks sorta disembodied, though.
