For those few of you that are still curious about vacuum tubes and/or transistors here’s site with really cool (from a geek’s viewpoint) Interactive Java Tutorials.I suggest Vacuum Tube Diodes and Building A Transistor, but there’s a lot good stuff there. Oh, and Teresa, you can use the Russian Abacus to count your readers (sorry it only counts to about 11 million). For those of you don’t give [insert word(s) here] about vacuum tubes, click ’Beershots" for something different.

That’s what the native peoples always said. And the more effective missionaries listened.

Are you sure that isn’t a politician and the dog a worshiping public (after they get their food stamps).

Original text:“FROG APPLAUSE TRANSLATOR (FAT) MAY BE BACK IN BUSINESS… Try it here. Is it as good or better than the previous one? Let me know.”…35 translations later Bing gives us:“Welcome to the Mitafrastis trade in birds (FAT). It is not the rate? Publicit E.”I’d say it’s pretty good.

    Here’s my FAT result:

“Asparagus should be kept in the coldest part of the refrigerator.”

…10 translations later Bing gives us:

“Cold Asparagus refrigerator sections and you may need to consider.”

Frog Applause is much more accurate…

The surface story of Emmett Till is sad enough. Reading the “More here” link including the historical followup is testament to the fact that although our nation has made strides, under our veneer of civilization there is still the urge to separate others, reduce them, and keep them “in their place.” Anyone “different from us” must somehow be seen as “other,” as objects, not worthy of inclusion in “proper society.” As a result, we still see violence against women and children, discrimination against minority races, religions and sexual orientations, and growing jingoism and xenophobia all along the political spectrum. We have so far to go…

    10 translations later:

“Unfortunately, too late for the Penguin.”

    Hmm, unfortunate indeed.

My guess is that the sign with the wheelchair left out of the box is indicating a different elevator to accommodate chairs.

Signs: I couldn’t find a sign exactly like the one on the right, but there are companies that make ADA-compliant signs for all occasions. The three men in the box is an elevator; the wheelchair means wheelchair-accessible. That seems redundant, unless the elevator is near an outside door with an access ramp.

FAT Results: : “How to give a manly hand shake; approach persons line of sight, look person in the eye and smile. No limp fish. No death grip. A firm grip with web touch.” : Max translation: : “Star hands and eyes smiling, he loved to shock. The meat is tender. There is no dead fish. Dig the web content.” : …and once more…..: : “Do I , and want to do. Significant contributions to the good reasons to forget. The idea of mortality. Stabilized.” : Wow, man, that’s deep….

Question…. Some of you seem to have no problem putting in spaces or leaving lines blank in your comments; how are you accomplishing this? When I hit submit it practically rewrites it and jams it all together, taking out any spaces and blanks I have purposely put in. Thanks.
