Canada would be calling if only they had warmer weather. All that ice and snow and cold, windy weather keeps me right here is temperate Northern California.

Socialized medicine is great? Try waiting until your dead for the right diagnosis and treatment. Idiots.

Yes, everybody who wants free health care should move to Canada. I’m sure all the taxpayers up there will be glad to add you to their financial burden. They being so nice and all.

Allan V, Darby Conley isn’t a Canadian, but he’s a Canadian sympathizer. The strip is set in Boston, and the cartoonist is from Concord Massachusetts (by way of Knoxville Tennessee).

But if you’re collecting Canuck Comix, you can add “Betty” and “Pooch Cafe” to your list. I’m not sure whether “Pooch” is SET in Canada, though. There are never any specific mentions of Canadian cities or pastimes, and it seems to conform to a U.S. holiday calendar; fireworks in July, Thanksgiving in November….

puppybreath, you might split the difference and check out Vancouver. Average high of 71 in the summer, average low of 32 in the winter. Not THAT far off NorCal (certainly not compared to Toronto, which ranges from 80 to 12).

@ puppybreathyou do realize Northern California is further north (and thus colder) than parts of Ontario (Cdn province)?.Our beer has a higher alcohol content. Our cows do not get growth hormones. (makes for better cheese) And remember the 2010 Spring Olympics in Vancouver? I had a blast telling people that was normal February weather and we keep our snow where it belongs – the mountains. BTW – Cypress Mountain is not a mountain – its an over large hill. Hence the reason for no snow on that site..and I love Bucky’s thoughts on snow farming!!!

You should come here to watch the annual snow harvest. And bring your skis. In mid-July. (We could all use the laugh…)

As an ardent liberal, I’m insulted by the line in Sunday’s Get Fuzzy strip “If a tree falls in the woods, how many liberals would it take to fund the therapy for all the trees around it?” The implication that the line is ignorant because it’s uttered by the stupid cat is no doubt lost on conservatives in their gleeful echoing of the vile line. Conservatives never fuss about the quality of the source as long as it’s something they want to hear. I’m sure that if the cat had said, “If a rich man wants another mansion, how many conservatives would line up to give him another tax break,” conservatives would have regarded it as merely the ranting of a stupid cat. Of course such a line is inconsistent with comics because in a Nation driven to perilous debt by Bush’s administration and his Republican lackeys in Congress, it’s not funny. If you’re a liberal, you should be more careful; if you’re a conservative . . .

    Darby Conley is not Canadian.

As for health care, my wife worked for a company who did Medicaid insurance filing at hospitals in Louisiana. She saw working poor people sent home literally to die because they couldn’t afford a bypass operation but didn’t qualify for Medicaid. No such immorality in Canada.

High-yield snow farming didn’t describe last winter in BC. (The Winter Olympics, remember they had to truck in snow from other areas)

I would take the time to refute all of your (note the correct usage) points but I stopped arguing with 21st Century American conservatives years ago. I can get a more reasonable discussion with a bag of hammers.

Yeah, you retract it? lol, but you aren’t sorry for it … the women in your life must be so proud … typical liberal lack of responsibility … it was particularly surprising given that, as I said, I acknowledged the incorrect use of the word I had chose. You haven’t been able to refute anything (except that I made a spelling error). You are simply hostile and childish and so you continue to prove my point … “bag of hammers” … having to get the last word over and over, flagging me, I love it.
