Cowboy Cal: So how will this episode end, Billy? Billy: Obviously with some mysterious event that will catapult us into the next adventure! Cowboy Cal: Urk! Billy: COWBOY CAL! Thank You. Also, I read somewhere that Quentin was ‘downsized’ due to the ongoing restructuring of the comics industry. Sad, really. What’s worse is the rumor that Uncle Cap’n is looking for gainful employment, Personally, I don’t want to believe it, considering the flood of money he no doubt received from last weeks strip.

Billy was right the second time. Cowboy Cal DID represent the Strong Bonds of Friendship, and his death is the explanation for Quentin’s absence. If were actually to see Quentin quitting Billy (or Billy quitting Quentin), it would no longer be allegorical.

Is Captain CEO wearing the Smuggler’s Cape of the saga’s title? If they’d thought to strip it from his corpse, Billy’s “next adventure” might have been an entirely new storyline, not merely Chapter MMXCVI of this one.
Of course, it would be good to have it dry-cleaned first.
