You can trim the claws but they will sharpen them right back up.
Before anyone suggests it, the ONLY time that you should ever declaw a cat is if they’re strictly an indoor cat and ever goes outside.

Yes, ordinary nail clippers and about two minutes of your time every couple of weeks will do the trick.
