I actually understood what Mumbles said. Am I okay? (He said, translated into standard English, “Stiff is heavy.”)Panel 3 is a grand study in evil incarnate.
This whole plotline reminds me of the old Mr. Magoo episode, where Dick Tracy enlisted Magoo to infiltrate the ranks of The Mob as Squinty Eyes. All of Tracy’s villains were gathered together as The Mob…with Pruneface presiding over the preceedings.
Well, sounds like the rest of the Apparatus has had a change of heart… .While on the subject of DT cartoons. Does anyone know where I can find the DT segments, from Archie’s TV Funnies?
@DDD – I understand those segments might be part of a “retro” programming lineup on a new network (PBJ, which ipart-owned by Classic Media), which is trying to get airtime over low power stations/digital subchannels (they don’t yet have a website). Otherwise, I only know of a single VHS tape that had some DT shorts from Archie’s TV Funnies.
Thanks to all who responded to my question.I remember watching it when I was young, just can’t remember them to well.I guess I have some searching to do.
Regarding the comments about the “Tracy Meets Magoo” cartoon:.Those of you who live near Munice, IN, may be interested in their annual conference for mystery fans and writers, Magna Cum Murder, which is being held this coming weekend. In recognition of Tracy’s 80th anniversary, I’ll be moderating a panel called “THE BEST DICK TRACY PANEL EVER!”.In addition, the Magoo/Tracy cartoon will be the second half of a movie double bill on Saturday night, the first half of which will be a DR. WHO episode in which the time-travelling doctor meets a young Agatha Christie. .Those of you who are Christie fans will be interested in knowing that her DEATH ON THE NILE is the conference’s featured book this year, and the movie event on Friday is a showing of the Peter Ustinov film version of that novel. .FWIW, I also liked the Tracy/Magoo pairing a lot better than the shorts UPA made a few years earlier. I’ve often wondered whether Jim Cash and Jack Epps, who wrote the script for Warren Beatty’s Tracy movie might have gotten the idea for teaming up so many of Tracy’s famous foes from that TV episode.
Intro (skip if you’ve already read the previous intro):
Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.
My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.
There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song, I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before. The other type (this type) is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator.

Which leads me to a more pressing question: when do we get to enjoy the Joe Staton rendition of Vitamin Flintheart?

Doubleup in panel 1 reminds me of the devil, and he while alone is not so tough. One can not help but to just love it.

And people think Karl Ichan is ruthless when he does a takeover.

Just want to say that Joe’s and Shelley’s use of black massing in all the strips so far this week is wonderful. Well designed and rendered … BRAVO!!!

This kind of elimination has been done before, but never has it been done so well!
