In fact, I was just reading that the entire Eurozone was always just a scheme to get the harder-working, harder-saving Germans and other northern and western Europeans to subsidize the profligate southern European economies.

I think this is a play on the “Capital One” commercial with the “barbarians at the gate” theme. Although I have to say I love Baslim’s pun as well :-)
i was a bit slow on uptake and then reminded that average greek citizen sees “bailout” as something that will benefit only the wealthiest. i tend to agree.
