Verne: what's on? RJ: college football...the east dakota mighty sloths vs. the lumbering gerbils of west dakota. verne: Seems like the sloths have the advantage in size and speed. RJ: but the gerbils have star running back moe tator. verne: Aren't all these so-called amateur athletes getting paid under the table? RJ: no way...ncaa rules state that all payments be above the table and behind their backs as long as no smear is allowed on a player's bagel* *it's true! see actual NCAA no smear rule: http://overthehedgeblog.wordpress.com tv: moe tator breaks one tackle..and a guard...and a couple linebackers..touchdown! ka foom!! verne: moe tater just spontaneously combusted. RJ: he can, however, put hgh on his bagel. tv: And there's a flag on the play for excessive celebration!

Apologies. Boots is correct. I forgot again we’d linked to the blog. Been schmoozing at Austin Film Festival. The post and link to the bagel story is up now.

Most of the “college” players ARE being paid…it’s called a scholarship. Money is money and the NCAA is full of it.

Well now they changed the rules so that student athletes are allowed a piece of their names(Shirt sales), autographs and, if I’m not mistaken, sponsorships in some cases.
Yay for the kids!
