Namrepus about 13 years ago
Why yes, yes it is. Not that Lu would admit it.

It looks like this isn’t the first time that the kids have caught her daydreaming! Meanwhile in reality, Quill is probably gritting his teeth listening to Tiff’s incessant babbling about herself.

WE WANT BRAD & TONI BACK!!!!!!!!!
bikenboatn about 13 years ago
Pretty sad when your personal life is so public that the kids you read to know it.
Bill the Butcher about 13 years ago
Is that Tiff’s sister, second from left of the kids in the first panel? Apparently Evans had promised an expose of Tiff’s personal history. This storyline will probably do it….if it doesn’t go the TJ route of a one-panel denouement, that is.
Bill the Butcher about 13 years ago
Since female reindeer keep their antlers through the winter while males don’t, Rudolph is, actually, not a boy.
tegm about 13 years ago
lol, that girl looks like a little Tiffany.

Tough break, Luann, you kept telling him you and he wouldn’t be a couple so I hope he hooks up with Tiffany behind your back. It’s not like you’ve tried to start dating him outside of “But we’re not on a date! Teehee!”

Notice: Do not mix up private and business affairs.
Sisyphos about 13 years ago
Luann’s pity party (solo) is rudely interrupted by reality. If she doesn’t cease waiting for her life to happen to her without her active participation, it will pass her by….
vwdualnomand about 13 years ago
luann, you should have done more with quill. or, flew with him to australia.
vldazzle about 13 years ago
Yes, Raspberry, I said that Friday or Saturday; Tiff can’t expect to go wherever Quill goes, or expect to drag him off to her stuff (at least we can HOPE not).

There was a girl in my school (beginning with K-8, onto HS) whose parents kept her hair platinum blond and perfectly coifed “all natural” of course. She always had nice new cashmere sweater sets too. Of course I was jealous of that since my clothes were 2nd hand and/or homemade, and not ever what I liked.
ArtCreator about 13 years ago
Wow, these kids really know Luann, it’s good to know Luann hasn’t matured that much… just enough to stop crying at every boy that leaves her.
imbaldeagle about 13 years ago
OH, I see – This is The Truman Show! Luann’s life is known to everyone, including her reading students. They see that she is imagining a Quill/Tiffany bonding – EVEN as we see it.

LOL ! Finally, a funny comic.
Mordock999 about 13 years ago
Wellllllll, its SEEMS that Mr. Oz didn’t break AWAY from Tiffany to give Luann that “Passionate” kiss at the airport after ALL, as MANY here thought.
Sort of Validates the “Quill is a Wimp” theories, doesn’t it?
Awww, Poor Luann! Don’t feel Bad NOW.
Feel Bad LATER, when the Guy You GAVE away, (Gunther) wanders in the ‘Reading Room’….,

Off the point, I recently added Preteena to my Gocomics; I had it on a group years ago and thought they were all old – but today they were looking for the TiVo remote, so that may be a totally new strip. And the sister action is much like Stone Soup as Teena is like Alix.I only mention because it does not appear many follow that toon.
Mordock999 about 13 years ago
Nope. I have ANGER issues over Lack of Coffee!!!
Waiter?!? COFFEE, NOW!!!!
marvee about 13 years ago
This is a comic strip about teen-agers so of course Luann daydreams about her boyfriend while doing her volunteer work. The girl speaking looks like Shannon with curly hair and certainly sounds like her.
Detroit1967 about 13 years ago
On the plane Tiffany, in order to engage Quill in some form of conversation, will bare her soul and disclose to him her insecurities and anxieties and how her “beauty” is all she has going for her. In doing this she will reveal some shred of humanity. Don’t know if that will lead to any type of romance but it will, in some way, serve to humanize her, at least to some degree. As things now stand Tiffany is a shallow, immature and narcisstic attention-seeker. It would be fitting, especially so close to Christmas, to make her, at least in some small way, a little bit less of an air-head.
kbyrdleroy123 about 13 years ago
It’s her own fault. She should have been more aggressive.
ChappellGirl5 about 13 years ago
Is it my imagination or do all those kids look like miniatures of the regular cast?
Dragongirl2319 about 13 years ago
Those kids are so awesome. Though I’m kinda concerned that Luann talks about her boyfriend problems in front of little kids.
Hakulover about 13 years ago
She is probably so jealous right know
Airman about 13 years ago
Good strip today. Give Toni & Brad a rest and get back to the teen drama queens and dorky guys. Next up: Gunther & Rosa. But, why is Luann wearing a black Santa cap?
Waddling Eagle about 13 years ago
Only old males lose their antlers in December. Young males like Rudolph lose their antlers in spring. Females lose their antlers in summer. Assuming Scandinavian reindeer, of course. Since Santa’s reindeer are of the northernmost variety, their antlers will be smaller than those of reindeer and caribou found further south.

Luann’s so depressed she wore a black Santa hat. Not very festive.
Popeyesforearm about 13 years ago
it’s always one of her boyfriend things.
The Old Wolf about 13 years ago
I’m with you. Flying reindeer can choose their sex at will, which makes the after-hours parties in the stables at the North Pole a lot more interesting.
The Old Wolf about 13 years ago
As for our poor Luann, she’s envisioning something she should know in her heart is not going to happen. I guess she just doesn’t trust Tiffany’s wiles, and assumes Quill – or any male within a 100-foot radius – would succumb. It’s sad… the poor girl suffers so, but she is only, what – 16? 17? It’s a difficult age.
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
I think Greg just misinterpreted the statement that “Red is the new black”.
MrsETPerry about 13 years ago
@Bill the Butcher she can tell em that, lol. Which knew I knew that all along. Plus santa’s not reall blah blah blah, Quill should call her….Tell her he was just thinking about her. Than she’ll be fine till New years _
Spode about 13 years ago
I’m sorry, I can’t help myself . . . the little blonde girl does indeed look like a young Tiffany. At first glance, she looks like she is on too much Ritalin® or too little, or something. But magnification reveals that this child is wearing glasses. Could this be “Tiffany” before she got contacts? Having to wear horrible Coke-bottle glasses as a child could explain a lot.
Rakkav about 13 years ago
I see others have beaten me to that observation. But here’s another one from the same article:According to the British comedy panel game QI, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and all of Santa’s other reindeer must be either female or castrated, because male reindeer lose their antlers during winter. But that’s not true of (young) Scandanavian reindeer, which would presumably be the reindeer of choice.
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
Really? And where has Greg ever said that? You continually put these words in Greg’s mouth, so please – a quote? And if you’re going to misinterpret that “I regret I named the strip ’Luann”" bit yet again, Greg clearly explains on his blog that it’s because the name itself is hard to remember, spell, etc., not that he regretted choosing it as not being more inclusive of the rest of Pitts.
In numerous interviews Greg’s been very specific that he identifies most closely with Luann, so his wanting it to be about “in his world of Luann” and not her as the primary character, is your own particluar misrepresentation, not Art Creator’s.
vldazzle about 13 years ago
And just who the “blank” is worried about the sex of Santa’s reindeer? I’m only interested in Luann with friends and family. And if Sheriff had not said it, I would have pointed out that Greg is drawing for B&W dailly strips which are probably the bread and butter and everyone knows red is shown black there.

Is that Tiffany’s younger sister in the group of kids?
Bill the Butcher about 13 years ago
Just a side observation: Is Gunter too busy with Rosa to sew Luann a reindeer costume? At least a headdress with antlers and a round red nose?
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
I didn’t “miss it”, because it was never there. I read his blog. So do others here. Yet you’re the only one who keeps insisting that Luann isn’t Greg’s primary focus, he’s sorry he named the strip after her – yet you somehow can’t be bothered to come up with anything that corroborates that.
If you’re now advising everyone to “remember that and pass it on” you’ll really have to do better than “because I said so”.
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
“If there was a “Reader-Meter” that measured interest in “Luann” it would’ve taken a big dip today. When “Luann” is about Brad and Toni – interest goes up. When it’s about most anything else, borrr-ring.
I created a monster when I created Toni.
But I think one thing that helps make the Brad/Toni storyline compelling is the fact that it’s not THE story. It’s doled out in snippets. If it was all B/T, all the time, it would quickly run itself into the ground.
So I’ll continue to leave Brad and Toni while I run off to check in with the rest of the “Luann” cast. Other characters have stories to tell. Are they boring? I hope not. Anyway, I kind of like Tiffany. And Knute. And Gunther. And Quill. And the strip IS called “Luann” – even though she may be (to some) the dullest title character in the comics.
So I’m afraid the meter’s just going to have to dip."-Greg Evans, 10/25/2010
