They used to talk about “Global Warming” but now it’s “Climate Change” that we have to worry about. So the cost of Frank’s roof repairs and flood-damage repairs may go up. Sometimes you can’t win for losing.

In the 1970’s the scare was global cooling and lowering sea levels… due to pollution from cars. So the real problem is all those catalytic converters on cars and removing the sulphur from diesel, preventing the smog from blocking the sun’s heat. The EPA caused global warming.

Here in Oz, Juliar will cover it with a carbon tax and still preside over increased heating and cooling costs. She now earns more than Obama. It’s a bit like a very rich Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

@ Superfrog: And we will have solar power when the utility companies figure out how to put a meter between the sun and the earth.

Global warming is the direct result of the increased hot air from Washington.

^ Actually, it’s not that simple. Among other effects, rainfall patterns will be changed, and the oceans will expand as they heats up. A higher sea level may mean certain low countries—islands, or even places like Bangledesh, will be much more subject to high tides and storm surges. Ecosystems may be severely harmed by the rate of change. Crops could be harder to grow, reducing food supply. All of which makes the consequences hard to predict.

Actually, most of us would perish in floods as coastal waters rise. New York City would/will cease to exist as rising waters flood in….

Considering the average temperature difference is 1 degree, I don’t really think it’s going to translate into lower heating bills anytime soon. It may be enough to move temperate zones further north and to higher elevations, but it’s not going to make winter go away completely.
