Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Many years ago I heard of a woman who lived alone and liked to ask her ouija board questions late at night. She asked the board where her deceased husband was and it came back with âRight behind you!â She threw the board in the fire and never asked again.
Then the FBI broke down the front door, arrested Calvin, and hauled him off to federal prison ( they arrested Hobbes, too, but he turned stateâs evidence in return for immunity ).
I asked my laptop this same question, and got the same answer âŠ. !?! No surprise â a little more research shows that Iâm running Ouija 7.0 for my os.
Silmarillion, all C&H comic strips are reruns nowadays, and this strip was originally run before Adamsâ death. Of course, not everyone knows the whole 42 joke, either.
For those not in the know, there was a science fiction TV show apx 15 yrs ago where someone asked the computer the meaning of life, and it crunched away for a few seconds and printed out 42 (or was it 47?) Anyway, a meaningless answer. Can someone supply more details?
If we want to know the answers to all of lifeâs mysteries, maybe we should ask Watson instead!
Â
(b.t.w.: In case anyoneâs wondering, Watson is a super-computer built by IBM that won a million dollars when it kicked the butts of the two greatest players who have ever appeared on the game show âJeopardy!â back in February, 2011.)
âHow do you know the answers to all lifeâs mysteries?â
++++
It could have answered, âYesâ, which would have been interesting enough.
Even more interesting if it said, âNo.â
++++
Of course, in Catholic understanding, a true âmysteryâ is something where itâs not so much that we donât know the answer, or at least where the answer lies, as that our minds are unable to encompass and grasp the full depth of the answerâs truth.
My wife says her mom wouldnât allow one of these in their house. It was an agent of the devil. We messed around with one as a kid but it never did squat.
My mother told me she played with a Ouija board when she was young. She said it always gave the answer you wanted. I would say that most of it is your own subconscious, but if you get to looking to it too seriously it can invite the wrong kind of spirits. I say except for praying to God, stay away from the spirit world, It can be dangerous!
âPlayingâ with the Ouiji can invite low level energies. Just because they are spirits, does not mean they will tell the truth. Another way to invite LLE: using drugs or alcohol, which is why LLEs hang out in bars.
âHow come we donât have a computer, Dad?ââBecause itâs bad enough that we have a telephone.ââHow come we donât have Cable TV or a VCR?ââBecause itâs bad enough just having a no-frills TV.ââHELP, STAR TREK, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!â

Itâs amazing to me that a childâs board game, could be considered dabbling in the occult by some adults. Stay young Calvin.
