There are two ways to take Gunther’s punchline.

Gunther seems to be just one of those type of guys. I find him to be a little frustrating.

Looks like we get to wait a while to see how TJ and AE work together.

On the last panel, it is amazing how the artwork is so simple, yet it graphically depicts Gunther as the epitome of hopelessness.

I understand Gunther all too well. I certainly don’t miss those years!

Oh no. We’re back to Gunther and Knute. Knute is not my favorite. He is everything I dislike in a guy. Gunther – snap out of it, already! You’re smart. You KNOW you have to act and ask Rosa out on a date. Sheesh. You already KNOW Rosa is interested in you. What is the problem? Nothing if you don’t mind of being a nerdy bachelor for the rest of your life.

Gunth, you are always so logical. Except now. And you’re still hung up on Luann. She will never feel passion for you. I’m pretty sure she’ll never exhibit passion for anybody. Rosa likes you. Go with that and stop questioning why.

Either he’s too much of a wimp to own up to his own wimpiness, or he still has feelings for Luann. I think he’s too weak to see the queen who opened the door to him. Rosa needs to move on.

BTW, love triangles, unrequited love, fear based indecision….let’s move past all that and see some intestinal fortitude, Greg.

he did pretty much the same with Luann……………… Luann had to “guide him” to ask her out, as he never was able to ask her out on his own…………….. Rosa pretty much put the doors wide open for him, even gave him constantly a “map of what to do” and a “guide of what to expect”……….. seems that when he said “I am an item” he meant “Rosa sees me as Mr right” and when he said “she is a vision” he meant “I see her in a bleary way, as I prefer 2 birds in the bush that is out of my limit to a bird that flies willingly to my hand”

Gunther is feeling the EFFECTS of what happens when one ALLOWS someone else (the clueless Luann) to ‘Play’ Matchmaker for them.

Maybe, just MAYBE, Gunther really DOESN’T LIKE Rosa in the WAY some of You WANT Him to.

Nothing WRONG with that. Rosa’s a very nice young lady but just NOT Gunther’s type.

But some of your comments are VERY interesting and REVEALING. There seems to be a prevailing attitude that When Guy is interested in a Gal who is really NOT that interested in him, HE should get the message, cut his losses and MOVE ON.

But when a Gal is interested in a Guy who is JUST not that interested in HER, HE is a creep that just doesn’t Know a good thing when HE sees it and SHE should KEEP trying to WIN Him.

See? Greg bringing back another incomplete arc will also generate discussion because we care about ALL of them, and I was thinking this was about to happen as the Anne saga had gone on pretty far. That’s OK and it keeps all the balls in the air.

Gunther has mental short-circuits when things get romantic and/or emotional. As Churchill said, “It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma …”

Man, the kids that aren’t connecting with girls WHILE they are surrounded…ie, high school…and their drives are at all-time highs…just wait until those kids get out into the less-heavily populated target areas…like work, etc. School is for a lot of things, including social interactions…if Gunth is an ‘out’ now, he’ll be a hermit later for sure.

Yes. We’re humans with great ability to handle reality and abstractions, and yet lots of our important actions are pretty basically mammalian…

Personally I notice that if I’m careful about not leaving out stuff that they want, stray cats don’t hang around my door. And if I’m very careful about showing too much skill or funor whatever…and never be helpful and kind… I can go on living my unencumbered life…maybe Gunth does all that automatically.

(sigh…..) I miss TJ

Back to ground zero again.

fun, happy-go-lucky dude! That said it all about Knute. Ack. More like a happy dimwit. Knute is a main character as versus Elwood who is a guest character so I don’t mind his seldom appearances to give the strip arcs a shake. With Knute, it is like scratching fingernails on the chalkboard for me. He is just the prototype of a guy-person I don’t care for. I LIKE a fun guy but not a dimwit and grungy one. I prefer the more intellectual and stimulating fun type.

IMHO……..Gunther’s focus is really Luann not Rosa.

Greg wants Gunther/Luann. When the fans wanted Aaron/Luann, Greg banished him to Hawaii. And when the fans ask for Quill/Luann, he’ll be deported back to Australia for defying the natural order of Greg Evans’ universe.

I like the “gentle” story lines: Gunther/Rosa, Tiffany/Crystal/Knute, and even Luann, although she is frustratingly unsure of herself. (typical teenager?) I would much rather see Rosa give Gunther a kiss than watch TJ running a con on Ann.

Gunther needs to know 100% of the reasons that Rosa likes him. Even though he could not provide the same for her. He and Luann have similar inferiority complexes. I can’t even imagine what that would cause as a couple. Gunther is a lot like Brad was prior to Toni. Completely inexperienced in matters of romance.

An old saying: “A fella chases a gal until she catches him.” A boy will pursue a girl as if he were a hunter. However, the girl has been leading him around until she decides it’s time to be caught..If all guys were like Gunther, the race would have died from starvation and failing that, lack of procreation. It’s up to Rosa to be the hunter and the hunted – UNFAIR, UNFAIR!

It just occurred to me that firemen are also paramedics. I don’t recall seeing anything about paramedics in this strip.

Maybe Rosa isn’t giving Gunther clear signals. Maybe she’s not letting Gunther know how she feels about him. Or perhaps she’s being fickle – a most common teen-girl trait – and he’s not sure what to make of her. Ever think of those things? Keeza-lo-batso! (that’s supposed to be Italian, and I don’t know how to spell it).

Pretty sure “twain” means apart

Maybe Knute and Crystal can double date with Gunther and Rosa. Gunther could use the moral support. I like this group: Knute, with his true, cartoon nose, Crystal, understudy for Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Gunther, the future Bill Gates, and Rosa, Gunther’s only intellectual equal in this strip.
