Gunther get a grip.

Knute is right. Gunther has to calm down. Can’t figure if he would be braver with Rosa or Leslie.

Knute actually does have a lot of brains. Gunther = wimp: a non-man.

I think Rosa can knock Knox’s block!

Knute suddenly grew common sense and logic. Amazing how in the right context he shows this side of himself.

I’m a senior in college and I have been reading this strip since 7th grade. Gunther hitting some random character with his backpack has been the most boring and annoying story line in the last 9 years. Please Evans, lets move on.

Gunther is very jumpy, despite thinking he’s trying to remain calm. Fear is the enemy, Gunther. Conquer your fear, and Leslie will be no problem!

How will this be different from the Brad vs. Dirk story?

Come to think of it, there sure is a lot of repressed teen sex in these story lines too.

If Evans wants to keep waving the anti-bullying banner he’s going to need a gay character at some point. Until then, he’s only marginally relevant.

Good gawd. He’s back to a green shirt and it is only lunch-time. Gunther must have a washer and dryer inside his locker. Logical. Right?.I mean Greg would never hand the strip to a colorist without proper instructions..Would he?

I love how Gunth is drawn in pannel 3! Sometimes I wonder how Knute and Gunth became best buds. They are entirelly different. Knute is calm and confident, and we all know what Gunth is like: Scared.

It’s true, Gunther doesn’t have a large wardrobe. The days are passing and Knox is probably home with his sick mother or something. But the tension is escalating for Gunther. I don’t think Knute is confident. He hides behind his “what me worry?” facade.

Gunther was brave…when he had something to fight for. True bravery is doing whats right even when you are scared. If you’re never get scared…you’re an idiot…or a pshycopath.

The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.

Gee Gunther, you must be in a very big school if you haven’t come across Knox by now…not in the lunch room, hallway, some classroom? Just stick with Knute and wear your lethal backpack…and for goodness sake…calm down!Now back to my hot cup of tea!

From what I’ve seen, each newspaper colors (or doesn’t color) its comics any way it chooses. The Tampa Bay Times (gag – formerly St. Petersburg Times) chooses not to color the non-Sunday Luann strips.

Somebody please pass me the gun so I can put this storyline out of it’s misery!!!!!

Don’t bet on that. You’d be surprised at what they’ll pull out of the very bottom of their psyches when confronted. (Been there, done that.) It’s how they manage between confrontations that’s the problem, as here. (Also been there, done that.)

I’d forgotten the bullying until a couple of these storylines…19 different gradeschools, new kids always get hassled. It certainly marks some people…now an old man and I still practice my fighting. It’s what gets me out jogging, etc. Gotta be in better shape as well as know HOW to fight…for me, sports is boring. But training, to survive? now THAT’s fun and that’s what’s kept me in shape all these years…

Seems to be dragging this out but might just be me.

I get it. Today’s strip is a metaphor for the pïss-poor excuse that passes for airline security in this country. The sheeple give up their civil liberties daily, allow the government to steal their personal belongings, and pretend they’re safer from an attack that’s never going to happen. The terrorists truly have won.

Actually, I’ve been more impressed with the artwork and facial expressions than the storyline.

Today is basically a repeat of yesterday’s strip. I get it, Gunther is skittish. Saturday usually provides resolution to a story thread (arc), so maybe we’ll see something.Gunther found his inner strength when the need arose (Knox was hassling Rosa), and I think he will find it again.

The thing about this strip is that I always want to go all “Mary Worth” on the characters and offer them advice.For a guy who is supposed to be book-smart, Gunther apparently failed to absorb the basics of the number one rule of self-defense, which is always presented 1st in books or in classes: be aware of your surroundings. This does not mean jumping at shadows and wetting yourself, it means calmly assessing each environment that you enter from a tactical standpoint.

True. Brad had a sister to toughen him up.

Brad fought Dirk for Toni, but not with the intention of physical conflict. But he did not fear violence. Gunther is expecting violence, fears it, but will stand up for it. That shows him to be truly brave.

Well, honestly, if I was Gunther and had a guy twice my size gunning for me, I’d probably be jumping at shadows, too.

Gunther’s a bit paranoid, but it’s hard to relax when there’s bullies lurking around, and it can also be hard to ignore them. I should know, I got bullied a lot until high school.

I take it you are a proponent of the “we’re just made that way” idea? I hope you don’t think that God’s the one doing the making, then. I believe He expressed His opinions on the subject rather forcefully.
