Yeah, women will relate to them.

Where are the women who are going to say that the last panel is sexist?
Stanlexx about 13 years ago
Not in this house. Thatâs the funniest thing this woman has seen all day.
Alabama Al about 13 years ago
Ummm . . . Jeff . . . no.

Tom Clancy? More like John Ringo â even fans of his sci-fi are astounded and offended by how offensively misogynistic his âthrillersâ get. And his sci-fi isnât exactly politically correct.

Frederick Brown anticipated Jeff in âWhat Mad Universe?â
Blood-Poisoning Vermin about 13 years ago
Is over-the-top satirical sexism excused because it reminds us that sexism is yet another tool of the patriarchy to keep the sisterhood in its place?

So the sound of the machine gun is BUDDA. Hmmm hey itâs a political cartoon so sue me if I be a killjoy And say that the editors shoulda caught that. Plenty of other ânoiseâ effects out there even if it needs an âHâ to be spelled as most popularly known.
thirdguy about 13 years ago
Itâs simple, you put the last frame on the cover, and call it a âRomance Novelâ Hey, it was all fiction anyway!

roctor: âLifted from the covers of True and Argosy magazinesâ
-and from the cover of Conan (the barbarian, not the TV host) comic books

Or perhaps the none too subtle irony of sexism being oppressive whether you are wearing bits of revealing silk or a tent?

Whatever. Like there never are ever anywhere in the world women who would like to dress like that but canât because the GIs havenât showed up yetâŠwhen our services leave Afghanistan somebodyâs God only knows what will happen to women who got an educationâŠthis is âway better than clancyâŠClancyâs a suckup to tough guys,orâŠa hero-worshipper. And yet he does a good job, EXCEPT when thereâs any social thinking going on. Heâs really good on equipment and guys who are also equipment: automatons. Heâs NOT good on the WHY. Think: if it werenât for women, guys, money would have NO value.
I like that Razihl is low-tech. Horse, hand-held weapons. Been there, done some of that. American Indian and cowbody. What a blast it must have been to ride horses when halfgasanistan went downâŠ
Iâm just amazed at how far the tech has come since âback in the dayââŠand I survived and adapted to womenâs freedom, but even sinceâŠmore than once⊠i have had to stand up and tell a bully to back off. I think there was more âmixing and sharingâ among men and women before women set themselves apartâŠ
Maybe now that the generation of revolutionary women is getting oldâŠI sense that kids today are as easyâŠeasier with each other than our fathers and mothers were. And back off, sisters, I have more units of âwomensâ studiesâ than you do, and more friends from the original movement than YOU do. I loved you ALL that much, and many of you returned the sentimentâŠand still do. Thank you very muchâŠ

Thatâs not women, Jeff. Thatâs narcissistic self-abuse. Some of your readers do the same thing with Becca.

To darth geekboy: I was thinking âArcher.â
Nairebis about 13 years ago
Love all the people here complaining about sexism, at the same time romance novels continue to fly off the shelves and make their authors obscenely wealthy. Now queue righteous people telling everyone that THEY never buy romance novels, as if that matters when the authors are still getting obscenely wealthyâŠ

What good are virgins once youâre dead? Women love âbodice rippersâ and muscles selling âcouldnât believe itâs not butterâ, So, whatâs NOT to suggest Jeff âsaltâ the story with spice??
fritzoid Premium Member about 13 years ago
âI think that a woman (Becca, maybe?) should create a female âRed Rascalâ (the âViolet Vixen?).I bet it would sell like hotcakes.â
Maybe, but probably still mostly to men. Who do you think the primary market for the âTomb Raiderâ games was? Itâs the genre thatâs most important, not the gender of the protagonist.
To turn THIS scenario into a âBodice Ripperâ, one of the women at the Rascalâs feet would have to be of central importance, the only one who REALLY understands Sorkh Razil, and the other three could be safely killed off (or otherwise disposed of) before the final chapter.

Is Jeff rewriting the same book that he just did a promo tour to support? The one he signed mumbleteen copies of to self-styled âsuperheroesâ wearing their pajamas in public? Is this his strategy? Selling multiple copies of mostly-the-same-only-slightly-different books to a few completists? Or will the update only be pushed out to those who bought the Kindle/Nook versions?

DTÎ I hope you are well. Come back soon
Gokie5 about 13 years ago
Iâve been wondering about DT Ï also. Hereâs a get-well-soon shout-out, if needed.
Happy Super Bowl, everyone. Iâll watch it for the commercials and hope they arenât too loud and gross.

So no one noticed Jeffâs Red Rascal climbed and fought barefooted?
FriscoLou about 13 years ago
Congrats to Big Blue, theyâre a gritty stick with it, 4th quarter team.
Some of the Super Bowl commercials looked like they were copped from a Red Rascal novel.
Bill the Butcher about 13 years ago
The comments are funnier than that very funny last panel:)
coot31 about 13 years ago
So in the first panel he, barefooted, climbs an overhanging cliff, armed with a sword, and flings the sentry off. In the the third and fourth panel heâs firing the magically acquired machine pistols. In the final panel he has become the dude whose photoshopping skills far exceed mine.
