I feel your pain, Calvin. Been there, done that.

I don’t like Moe…

That happens to me all the time!

Me: You wish!

A good and sharp retort is always important!

Repartee: what comes to you after you become a departee.

Happens here, too. Usually about the split-second your finger leaves the “submit” button.

How well I know that feeling Calvin.

Don’t overthink it! (Unless you’re INTJ like me, in which case go ahead.)

The worse thing is, the older I get, the longer it takes to come up with those afterisms.

The reason that Moe is the way he is, is because he’s a . . . a . . . um, . . . a . . . . I’ll get back on this.

It still takes me that long to come up with a comeback.

20-20 hindsight. The bane of the human race

About 25 years ago I heard someone come up with a brilliant INSTANT comeback. I am still in awe of that event and person.

If it were me I probably would have said “I’ll get back to you on that.”

Just as well that Calvin can’t come up with that snappy comeback at the moment. He should be careful around a grade school-er like Moe, who is already shaving.

Forget the retort kid, just whack him with a concrete-filled rubber chicken.

“Oh yeah”, the all purpose comeback line.

I experienced butts like Moe in High School. That was 8 years ago. I get satisfaction by thinking that half of those guys are either dead or in jail by now.

“Well, the jerk store called, and they’re running out of you!”

esprit d’escalier….it gets us all.

Moe deserves a tort more than a retort! A civil action might be appropriate in this case. Sue!

Happens to me all the time! Another reason why I like writing better. I can get my thoughts conveyed much more accurately.

The bully-abused become bullies . . . .

Remember a certain strip when Calvin confuses Moe and Calvin looks at the reader and asks for an applause or something?

That’s happened to me a countless amount of times…

It’s not what you know, it’s what you can think of in time that counts.

I wouldn’t say I was bullied in school, but was at the bottom of the “pecking order”. Have outlived most of them.

What’s really irritating:Nobody does anything about a bully -until someone beats him up – and then his parents show up at school raising the devil!

So I’ve been told by Wikipedia:

L’esprit de l’escalier or L’esprit d’escalier (literally, staircase wit) is a French term used in English that describes the predicament of thinking of the right comeback too late.

That happens to me all the time. Not being shoved but thinking of a good line later.

A smarta$$ never deals with the issue; he makes a sharp retort and falls in love with his mirror. (This is by the way just a horrible metajoke.)

Yes,good answers very often come later ,at least with me.

Talking to Moe is an utter waste of time. Talking incessantly to a teacher or the principal about what is going on with Moe may get somewhere, especially if Calvin can get a group of other abused kids to go with him. No question that Moe is doing bad things to still other kids as well….

Bullies… :-(

A wimp, and proud of it!

But, in years to come, who’s gonna program your computers, and file your taxes and such?

There always will be bullies around. Sooner or later he’ll run into one bigger than himself and it’ll be his turn to be pushed around.

Maybe Calvin should keep a list of remarks with him. Might be helpful in the future.

Just tell the little bully: “It takes one to know one!”

That’s how I used to be, not thinking of some comeback until after the confrontation was over. lol

Hey Moe, I heard when you were born, you were so ugly, that the Dr. smacked your Mamma!!!!

“Up yur nose with a rubber hose” or something like that.

I always come up with something really good after it’s too late.
