On a personal note, if anyone cares, we’re leaving today for a short trip to Disney to celebrate Christmas and my birthday (Dec 26). This is one of those momentous birthdays that end with an “Oh” (as in, Oh my, how did I get so old? ;-)), so I wanted to go to Disney and act like a kid again. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Boxing Day!
p.s. If anyone wants to play along, for a birthday present, I would love to know everyone’s favorite Disney character. Mine is Goofy.
I used to be known as Tigger… my daughter has an 8x10 framed picture of me with Tigger from a visit to DisneyLand. She says it’s her favorite picture of her dad.
Lightenup, my favorite is Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. Happy Birthday! As I grow older I’m trying to be like my mom. She never lost the enthusiasm of a child for trying things, especially new things. She was so much fun to be around.
lightenup This might not sound right but Which Disney
I am in Orlando we have Walt Disney World
then there is Disneyland
Disney Tokeyo
Disney France
Concerning the strip after I read it I thought Uncle Phil might not be fibbing. Just his Teddys might be filled with a girl. I know this is a family strip.
Skipping, my mom was the same way as yours. She was always up for a trip and she dragged my sister and me up and down the East coast of the USA from Cape Cod to Daytona Beach. And we loved it! BTW, my favorite Disney characters are Huey, Dewey and Louie.
MermaidStitcher - Do they still call them “Teddys”? I have some fond memories involving them. (But since they happened on my honeymoon, I won’t spoil the G rating here.)
@naplip; when I was little, say four years old, I preferred my mother reading stories to me, because my father never got them right. I could check, because even though I couldn’t read, I knew them all by heart, word for word.
and as an adult, i have discovered that it’s very nice to have someone read something aloud. it makes it real in a special way. i’m thinking of audio books for example.
I’m not sure which characters are Disney but if the Pooh characters count I love Eeyore. He’s so adorable I always want to hug him. Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday lightenup!

How cute, I wonder what Phil will think when he wakes up with a teddy bear in his arms? It’s a very sweet thing for Mike to do, very compassionate :)

What a great reminder of pure love.

What a sweet and generous thing to do. John and Elly are doing something right for Michael to be so compassionate at such a young age.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!

To RinaFarina re yesterday: That is how my dad would tell the story. He was tired of reading the original and decided to give it a little zing.

But “today’s uncle Phil” wouldn’t smoke the pipe in the house, and in the company of children, would he?

Very realistic. Kids don’t do irony.

*Disney characters, well, Eeyore FOR SURE, Tramp and Jacques from “Lady and the Tramp”, Donald Duck.

Michael’s one sweet little boy. Ellie and John should take a bow for teaching him like that.

tantebitte, there are some pipe tobaccos that actually have a sweet, pleasant aroma. But it still is second hand smoke, so you’re right.
Yep, I agree. The aroma smells surely good but hate to think that the second smoker harms all of us. Good grief! :-/

Happy Birthday lightenup. It’s a toss-up for me - Tigger or Eeyore. Used to love Mickey Mouse, but sort of outgrew him.
