John: Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!! S-s-s-so...C-c-c-cold...Princess, what have they done to your hair? man: Hey, I was here first! John: I was first! I was first! Jason: You know, just in case Disney wants sequel ideas after the mars books. Peter: "Pizza Planet"? Ok, that one has a chance...

Pluto?! Wasn’t that discovered a few years ago that it isn’t a planet? (I’d like Jason to try “John Carter of Treasure Planet”; it’s favorite version of novel “Treasure Island.”)

Considering everyone says it’s going to flop, Disney probably isn’t interested in sequel ideas.

Is it looking like Peter is needing a haircut? A little scraggly ….
Gator007 almost 13 years ago
They say that Pluto is a rogue planet, that it is not from our solar system.

The gravity of the situation is quite funny …… :)

Yeah. I don’t think Amend saw how big of a flop this would be when this strip was written (probably before people knew about the record $250 million budget). I wonder what his vote will be on The Hunger Games in a week or two.

When is someone going to give Edger Rice Burroughs any credit for John Carter?? It will be as light weight as there Tarzan cartoon.
JGordonFan24 almost 13 years ago
i don’t want to see john carter at all.

No, they had to drop the “Princess” from the title of “A Princess of Mars”.And then, when you look at all of the movies out there that are “…of Mars”, you realize that EVERYBODY knows what Mars is like, and Barsoom is nothing like that.I mean, the Little Green Men aren’t supposed to be 10 feet tall in popular culture.

Wow, this cartoon led to some heavy discussion. I was just going to say the pizza idea was cheesy.

Actually, John Carter and the Skeleton Men of Jupiter (supposedly by ERB, but there are some that say he didn’t write it) was published in 1942. http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks06/0600591.txt

I DID hear that movie was a disaster, but I think that makes the boys planning sequels doubly funny!

Pizza Planet is from the Toy Story movies, another Disney series.

John Carter was actually a lot better than what some critics said about it. Too bad there won’t likely be a sequel to this fun film
rdh288 almost 13 years ago
Love the Toy Story 2 reference! (or did he mean actual pizza?)
skippygddss almost 13 years ago
I’m hoping it’s better than Sci Fi’s Princess of Mars based on the same book(s). Watching that I wondered if ERB had spent too much time in the sun.

Funny cartoon, and I like the movie

For an interesting alternative, try “Number of the Beast”, by RA Heinlein. One of his later works, it’s almost one continuous inside joke; there are so many salutes to the Golden Age, it’s hilarious! Not just ERB, but Clarke, Asimov, tie-ins to some of his earlier… you have to read it!

@ Doctor11 and Shadow beast: given that there are other objects in our solar system as planet like as pluto, we either have 8 planets or more than 9
rgcviper almost 13 years ago
I just realized something: Thank heavens we were spared from John Carter of Uranus.
