Cute Little Wingy, remember her from the Rughead story with Rainbow Reilly keeping trigger happy mobsters at bay! HEY!maybe our FBI agent IS her!Isnât Sam a bit flirtatious here?
The Whole Sum Bank & Trust sounds like a candidate for Blackjackâs attention. Itâs more than just luck that veteran detective Catchem has a contact there. But I am a little puzzled as to how the MCS computer in the background popped up an old image of Wingy instantly!

@lilysloreâWhat was the first Dick Tracy story everyone began with?â.My parents got me The Dick Tracy Casebook for Christmas sometime in the early 90s. To be specific, the first story in it is The Hotel Murders from 1936, with Athnel Jones.
To add further, we never had Tracy in the papers (and still donât), so this is my first experience reading it âliveâ. Tried reading it a few years back, but wasnât interested..Wish we had gotten him in the paper, wouldâve loved to have read the Collins stuff back then. His stories in that book were my favorites, and itâs probably going to be a LONG time before they make it into the current hardcover collections.
Truly tantalizing the way these loose threads are weaving together! Itâs made opening the daily funnies as much fun as way back when youâd get ink on your fingers.
What is flirtatious about Sam today? Heâs simply talking about the case to his longtime co-worker, Liz. And speaking of Liz, she does look gorgeous today and it doesnât have anything to do with her hair since all we can see are her bangs. Sometimes her eyes look wonky but here they are fabulous.
I often have to roll my eyes at how fast the computers on police shows respond on TV. Those of us who work with computers know that even the top law enforcement agencies in the country donât have computers and connections that fast. So I had to roll my eyes once again reading todayâs strip and seeing Little Wingyâs image on a futuristic-looking screen right below one displaying Blackjackâs image as soon as her name is mentioned. But then, if Lee was doing research on her I guess itâs not too much of a stretch that she sent the image to the screen for all to see. I wonder if a third screen will appear if thereâs another person to show?.
Letâs See The Story So FarâŚ.. A Gal who likes taking off and pointing her glasses (that FRANK AND ERNST gal) plays âtouchie/feelieâ on the sofa with Sammy. A ROBOT claiming to be FLAVOR FLAV (his GIANT CLOCK replaced with a transistor RADIO) wants to be a modern day ROBIN HOOD, hasnât given away any MONEY. RATHER the ROBOT now claims to be the number one fan of newspaper comic strips and a collector of junk. Is this a comic strip about a comic strip character or a comic strip of Americaâs Top Detective?!?.. Quite a Mix Up. . . . . . . oh well.
When Sam said âI know someone who works thereâ, I thought at first he meant she works at Hotshot airlines. Wait a minute â Little Wingy works at an airline? Wingy â airline? But maybe you all are correct and she works at the bank.BTW, I get Whole Sum Bank, but what am I missing with Hotshot Airlines?

Samâs as solid a cop as they come. The only time I remember him flirting was with Sleet back in â49 or â50.
