I had to pick my jaw out of my grocery basket when I came across, amongst other things, alligator meat in a supermarket freezer … in Sweden. That was a tad more exotic than expected.

Why in heaven’s name would you want rattlesnake meat?

One Texas town has an annual rattlesnake roundup. Good eats abound!

I enjoy a Vicki appearance, usually. This time she just seemed unusually mean. This guy wasn’t blowing Rose off. He simply informed her that he couldn’t help her and told her who could and Vicki popped out to insist and intimidate, quite unnecessarily. It felt a lot like “well go get mike NOW mo’fo’!” and was out of character. I don’t like seeing Rose go from timid to bullying, so perhaps this was just an anomaly and poorly executed strip.

How do they catch the rattlesnakes? Without getting bit that is.

Someone once asked Sam Armold, of the Fort restaurant, which features game meets, “Do you serve vegetarians here?”. He replied, “Yes, ma’am, everything we serve is a vegetarian. Except the rattlesnake.”

    LOL! Don’t mess with Rose!

A good friend of mine had some severe food allergies, and for some months the only animal protein she could tolerate was indeed rattlesnake. I’m not sure how hard it was to get (though she did live in Colorado at the time…)

I recall in the early 70’s, our local supermarket sold cans of whale meat and rattlesnake meat. A friend of mine once tried rattlesnake meat. She said it tasted like real soft white meat. The only thing exotic I ever tasted and enjoyed was calamari-squid.

Snarky supermarket employees need a Vicki breathing down their necks once in a while. Makes for good customer service.
