what??……the guys is supposed waaaaaay dirtier than the girls

Whoa! Haven’t seen these two in a while. But I thought men were supposed to be the yucckier, grimier sex. This comic should be the other way around! The ladies room should not only be cleaner, but bigger. With a seating area. And a personal attendant handing out paper towels and mints and hand lotion. :D

How can this be true? We all know there’s only about 7 female students at Pitts, not includng Crystal.

Now this couple is comfortable with their relationship – why can’t the others be this way?

Having cleaned public restrooms and having taught in a public school let me just say gender doesn’t matter.

I work maintenance in a parks department and women and public rest rooms do not mix. I think they take out all their built up frustration on public restrooms.

At LSU, they open certain campus buildings for tailgaters to use the restrooms. To see women venturing into the men’s restrooms is quite common.

Something wrong with this strip.

The reason the bathroom is so much cleaner than the girls is that Knute uses his bathroom breaks during class, and then gets bored while skipping class and cleans the restroom.

I’ve always knew that men’s rooms were (are) cleaner than women’s. Knute, you the man!

I clean businesses after they close, including the restrooms, and while the men’s rooms are usually cleaner, it’s not that big of a difference. I’m just glad I don’t clean them alone or else I’d go insane.

The female restroom issue may be a USA thing. I asked a young female friend if the ones she visits are any different, and she said no. (I will not go into how she knows about the Men’s.) I have also asked our office cleaners, and they also say no real difference.

But good to see the lovely Crystal’s “cool” being razzed.

I gotta say that I find myself wiping down the sink area, and giving the taps a quick polish whenever I visit our shared office facilities. I always feel that if we have clients going in they’re while visiting us they should only have a positive experience.

I am not surprised at Crystal’s surprise, but I also accept the premise of the strip, with one proviso: based on limited insight into women’s restrooms, I believe that men’s rooms have more, and grosser, graffiti.

Don’t assume everyone shares your own hobby.

Blessedly, Knute doesn’t have to clean out that silver box next to the toilet.

OK son, keep your hands on top of the table where we can see them.

Yeah, we just can’t get the caterers to clean up after themselves.

I am just wondering why Knute got stuck with the job seeing that he has almost NO responsibility doing anything else…

Where I work, there are three ladies’ rooms to every men’s room.

I had to use the bathroom of a woman I once dated. It was absolutely filthy and there were stockings and undies all over the place. When she visited my place, which was often, she saw how neat and clean my bathrooms were. Couldn’t she have at least followed my example?

A sort of uncomfortable return to Knute and Crystal’s subplot….where the heck is Luann these days? Late Spring Break that no one knows about?

women’s restrooms are worse, because we have both hands free. heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee

I hate to crush a misconception but I worked as a caretaker in a highschool. The boys’ washroom was always cleaner than the girls’. Junior man got to do the female washroom because no one else wanted it. This wasn’t inner city either. Wealthy suberb!

I’ve cleaned both restrooms at my church. The men’s room is much filthier than the women’s — esp. if you notice the floor. I think lots of the little boys “miss”.

I used to wonder why urban areas are always dirtier than the suburbs. Then one day I’m waiting at a light in a downtown area and I see a teen on the sidewake next to a trashcan eating some snack cake. She was just dropping the wrapper where she stood. The trash can was within arms reach. Urban blight is due to the quality of the residents.

Doors on the stalls? Not when I was in school.

I used to be a Grounds Keeper at our Municipal Stadium. I can attest that the women’s room was a pig sty after an event compared to the mens room. I can’t tell you how many times I had to shut down a rest room because it was flooded. But it only took a few bad apples….. not all women are pigs about public restrooms.

My ex works maintenance at a Costco…and yes she complains way more about the woman’s room than the men’s…woman try and “hover”….yes that’s right…get the mental image…

Yeah, well that is just about how it always is. Guys may not always have good “aim”, but there is nothing worse than a womans “hover”.

Many years ago, I worked on equipment in the dorm rooms at a large university in the states. Since I grew up with a brother, and no sisters, I assumed girls were as neat as my mother.Shocked at how filthy the girls rooms were compared to the boys!! No need for coat hangers, all clothes were in the floor!Real eye opener for a young man!!!!

In helping raise three different families from tots to teens, while the boys rooms weren’t necessarily clean, the girl’s rooms were total disasters!

Wow. Just the day before yesterday I said these are the only couple on this strip who don’t irritate anyone. Good, at least I can read this week’s strips. I think.

Yes, men’s restrooms are often cleaner because they use them less! We put a new bottle of soap in each, by the end of the day the women’s bottle was gone but the men’s was untouched, as were the paper towels.How much hair and makeup do you find in a men’s restroom? But it all depends on the individuals and, to a certain extent, their age.

They just want us to believe that guys are dirtier than girls.

So… um…. Crystal…..let me show you the quality of the chrome piping in stall # 3…

Truth is stranger than fiction — I had a job years ago where I also had to clean the restrooms at a business. The girls’ bathroom was always dirtier!

Amen to everything you wrote. I actually like Bernice circa about decade ago, when she had an actual personality and was freaking out over wanting to marry Zane and jealous over Luann’s being attracted to her brother – she was pretty damn human and vulnerable and probably the closest Greg’s ever gotten to depicting a real live human female adolescent. .I’m convinced the reason Knute’s keeping the boy’s room so clean is that he probably lives there and is eating off the floor.

Don’t knock the Knute……I like him. And, I like my favorite Goth, too, but Greg could draw her with more feminine, curvy hips. Her figure is too boyish. But, on the subject of rest rooms, my biggest surprise was when I was stationed on Taiwan. Back in those days, when you went into town, everyone, male and female used the same john, at the same time. Of course, I didn’t hang out at the classiest places.

You may be right about both those notions – Valentine’s and facetiousness. I find Knute so blank that it’s hard to tell – or care, really – if there’s a joke there or not..Now, just to be shocking and bring up a topic that no one’s discussed yet – do you know that ladies’ rooms are much dirtier than men’s rooms? Seriously, I’m surprised no one’s mentioned it before.

Butttt there will NOW begin a campaign to upgrade the downtrodden women (and their facilities)…fight the power!

I also worked at a State Park and had to clean bathrooms and can confirm as well that the women’s restroom was always worse to clean.

The old adage “opposites attract” seems to hold true in comic strips as well as in life.

No ‘boys room’ in any school I went to had doors on the stalls.

You nailed it – except that they don’t really even have that one commonality, since Knute likes L & H for the yuks, Crystal for the “existentialism” of it all. Sheesh. .What we have here is a totally improbable pairing that works solely because Greg needs it to work – except that it doesn’t. It’s the ponderousness of the “ha ha – they have nothing in common but they work, tee hee – isn’t that yuks?” factor that I find incredibly grating.

Possibly because guys use the bathroom less than girls? But in high school biology, we tested some bathroom floors for bacteria, and the boy’s was worse.

No it was an average mid-class asp school, no minorities of any size. ..No doors on stalls anyplace. No graffiti.Elementary, mid-school, or high.

You’re right, he’s not a redneck, but I wanted to put him in one of those outcast categories who occasionally come to your rescue. Knute is either a latrine queen or the colonel of the urinal.

In my experience, ladies rooms are usually much dirtier than the mens, but the mens is in poorer repair than the ladies.

having managed a restaurant, i concur. the women always left their restroom a disgusting mess. noone (not even the female employees) wanted that cleanup job.

Knute is scruffy but cool. Crystal is nice, smart and sensible but is usually seen with Miss Center of the Universe. Bernice is really nice and not seen nearly often enough.

That’s true about the treatment of Bernice. She needs to be made more real.
