I’ve always been able to determine some sort of purpose that is put forth in each arc. Unless Greg was trying to display an unusually high comfort level between Crystal and Knute, I’m lost.

It’s not an arc. Jeez. It’s a gag. A sitcom.

Dave – that’s probably the most accurate statement about Greg’s motivation. There is way to much analysis and backstory writing going on, more than Evans ever does. Cartoonists have to work fast and always forward. It may lead to inconsistencies and contradictions, but … but … - oh man I cannot believe I am going to say this -- IT’S A COMI***********!!!!!!!!!

So what happened to the wonder words on Knute’s t’s? Y’all made me aware how they changed between panels. But since he’s been tight with Crystal, they’ve disappeared. Is that an omen that love is making him dull?

I like it more and more. He actually CAN take charge of situations. If West Point doesn’t get him, he could become a seriously capable citizen.

Agreed, it’s only a comic strip, but this isn’t the most compelling of arcs.

If Knute had just let her use the restroom without cleaning it first, she’d be finished already and this wouldn’t be an issue.

Did you know that in some states it is actually illegal for a woman to use the men’s room (and vise versa I’m guessing). Let’s hope she does not get arrested.

That crowd is going to gather around the door and applaud when she comes out.

It’s actually moot as to whether any states have that statute on the books – what’s important is whether they’re enforceable today. They really aren’t. Most older sex- or gender-segregated laws are subject to being overturned in the courts, which is why no one prosecutes. Can you imagine trying to enforce, let alone prosecute, a “no women in the men’s room” law in the face of a violation of Human Rights lawsuit? .Transgendered people aren’t accosted for using the “wrong” restroom in a restaurant or other public facility – it would constitute gender identity discrimination and leave the facility open to liability. Ditto a dad who brings his daughter into the men’s room so she can use the toilet or he can change her diaper, or a mom who brings her son into the ladies’ room because she isn’t comfortable either escorting him into the men’s room or letting him go there on his own. .The whole concept of having gender segregation when it comes to bathrooms or changing rooms comes down to two issues – safety and privacy. While a public space, a restroom is a confined setting that can be exploited by a criminal element – and unfortunately, sexual assaults and other offenses that disproportionately affect women are disproportionately committed by men. As long as the bathroom or changing facilities provided for both men and women are separate, yet equal, there really isn’t going to be enough cross-use to justify calling law enforcement.

This isn’t a story arc, it’s just a weeklong bit of fluff. Others have commented on its “squickiness” (that’s the sound Knute’s new bottle of sanitizer makes).As for Elwood, who knows if he is a student at present? He could be an emancipated minor, with private tutors.

It’s unclear to me how the “Elwood” character is getting discussed this week. He is probably the least plausible of anyone in the comic strip. If he is a student in the school, then he’s wasting his time there, assuming he is as fabulously wealthy as he claims to be.

Let’s hope the pressure upon Crystal’s fictional bladder has been relieved by tomorrow!

LOL – define “annoying”! I probably have that covered most of the time and I’m not paid, either. But you’re here not because you’re paid to be, but because, like the rest of the posters, you feel your comments and observations have valid input.
