I got breakfast in bed also – toast, an apple and juice. ♥♥ My 9 and 6 year old did it all themselves and the kitchen looked just fine. This is a bit of a stretch…Happy Mother’s Day!
“This scenario has been a cartoon staple for years. Even though we all try not to duplicate something we’ve likely seen before, there is always the need to do it your own way, using your own characters. The thing is to try and do it better than the last guy! I didn’t succeed in doing this better than Doug Wright (”Nipper") for example, but simply drawing one more mess was enough to make me do this old chestnut one more time. My kids never did make me breakfast in bed – it’s not something I like. I did hear from moms who enjoyed it, though – and I emphasize the past tense! "
@ ShikamooI had to laugh, about 30 years ago when our oldest daughter was a baby, I asked my husband if he had made any special plans for Mother’s Day and he replied “No, you are not MY mother.” I calmly looked at him and reminded him that next month was Father’s Day and that he was not MY father. As a result I have always been taken out to eat and given a card and flowers on Mother’s Day. .He is very good at understanding that I cook, and plan all holidays and special occassions and only refuse to do the cooking and planning for Mother’s Day and my birthday as these are my “special days”. .To all you ladies, I hope you enjoyed your special day!

You never see the kids being forced to to learn a lesson about cleaning up the mess.

In the grand scheme of things, a dirty kitchen is an insignificant price on being appreciated by and having a loving relationship with your children.

Most people don’t even know these characters aren’t real, judging from the comments, so that observation is mute.:-)
