I’ve heard that they are two different sea dwellers.

may I recommend Breakfast for Dinner menu (think IHOP)French Toast,, bacon, eggs option on Pancake made into faces and letters, OJ on the side – perhaps some fruit. Tad messy on the kitchen but the only tricky timing is to have the bacon ready (not burnt) when the other stuff is ready.
(did this for years for my daughter’s sleep over friends)

The best and easiest way to cook bacon is in a microwave on paper towels. As crispy as you want it, exact known time and minimal fat/grease.

East coast= dolphin fish. Hawaii= Mahi-Mahi. Mexico and west coast= Dorado. All same fish, except now east coast resturants are afraid to list Dolphin fish. Ignorant people will boycott and throw rocks.

The smart dolphins are air-breathing mammals, not fish. We don’t eat those. The other “dolphins”, also known as mahi mahi or dorado, are fish. The only things they have in common with dolphins are fins and seawater.

Thanks Ray C, they had me scared there for a minute. I ate Mahi-Mahi once on the west coast. It was freshly caught and tasted really good when it was grilled, and I don’t normally like seafood.

Wow, I love Mahi Mahi even more now that I know it’s dolphin. I can’t wait to tell all my FB friends what I just learned

Who knew so many people still think the dolphin you eat is the same as the mammal?! sigh.Must be people who don’t get fresh fish too often.

seriously? DOLPHIN?? Had I known, I wouldn’t have tried it when I was in Hawaii, but sadly, I love it… I’ll stop after the next one.

Isn’t it Dolphin FISH? Not the same as Dolphin mammal.

Please, don’t anyone mention eating catfish, Armstrong will think people are eating cats.

Make tuna fish salad. Simple, and they can make sandwiches.

I think they made the error on porpoise. Unfortunately, the mahi-mahi is becoming overfished too.

Mahi-Mahi is the Hawaiian name for the dolphinfish. It’s all one word, DOLPHINFISH, like CATFISH, and the former is about as close to being a dolphin as the latter is to being a cat.

I see that the so-called common dolphinfish or mahi mahi (Coryphaena hippurus) doesn’t even look anything like a real dolphin. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahi-mahi even says that the name “causes much confusion.”

Joe thinks dolphins are too smart. I wonder if the escargot would be stupid enough for him. (From and old smartalek waiter joke.)I wonder if some of the posts are just being facetious, but I’ll repeat just in case: the dolphin you eat are not the intelligent sea mammals, they are just dumb fish like tuna or cod. The name happens to be the same for some reason.

Dolphin or Porpoise?

Joe, Mahi-Mahi is dolphin FISH, not the mammal! (And it’s very good. No fishy taste.)
