Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for May 20, 2012
Transcript:
Never has a dream before that didn't face away. Never had a unicorn to ask me out to play. Never had a child with me to share the best of things. A princess of suburbia who dances, laughs and sings. Never was a part of two who run beneath the stars. Never has someone who could tell me "THIS IS OURS." Never be alone again neither day or night. A princess and a unicorn have finally got it right.

I began tearing up when I saw this. The sort of bonds of friendship that can never be broken. Simple, true, childhood friendships. Thank you for the strip, Dana…and for telling us that less-than-imaginary friends can still be true.

I enjoy this strip also -
But does Marigold keep Phoebe from growing up or have we forgotten about Puff, the magic dragon…

Been here – and a fan – since day 1. Dana, without a doubt, you just proved today WHY “Heavenly Nostrils” is THE #1 comic strip of 2012! Beautiful – awesome – it made me cry!

And you and I climb crossing the shapes of the morningAnd you and I reach over the sun for the riverAnd you and I climb clearer, towards the movementAnd you and I called over valleys of endless seas
Yes — “And You and I”

Nice poem Dana. Though I haven’t made a comment on here in a couple of weeks, I also have been reading everyday since day one.
Going back to a conversation a few weeks ago. In spite of the angst you mentioned from the powers that be, I don’t think Heavenly Nostrils is suffering from the name.

Five gold stars for you, Dana. This strip is fabulous!

Such a sweet strip.

These are the kinds of associations most withdrawn kids have with imaginary friends. I’ll keep this comment on a positive note by saying it’s a beautiful thing you’re doing, Dana.

Also, thanks, everybody. :) I want to give some credit to my good friend Ronnie, who helped with the poem (he’s very talented at this sort of thing). We plan to collaborate on some more Sundays in the future!

Marvelous.

Very nice. But I wouldn’t sleep with my face that close to a unicorn’s back end.

Favorited. This strip has exponentially exceeded my expectations.

It wasn’t its intended purpose, but this one made me sad. One day Phoebe will grow up.

I’ve been wanting to comment on this strip the second it appeared, but I’m afraid nothing that comes to mind can possibly do justice to this. This just has such a huge affect to me. ::sniffles::
I just love and adore the tender expression on Marigold’s face at the end, as she gazes down at her child, all exhausted and passed out, totally trusting.
I want to own this one.

Love the earmuffs.

I hate the way this particular strip was remodeled. I still have the original structure and it’s way better than this present one.

Marigold farted in the last panel, which woke Phoebe up and ruined the moment. Or maybe this comment did. :^D
