Tip for all you kids - if you steal a priceless artifact from your parents and sell it on the street, you can distract your parents by announcing you’ve joined a rock band! Make it a “Boy Band” and it’ll be months before they remember the theft!
barticle35 asked :
“So who phoned Tracy and why ?”
(barticle … we’re into “particle” progress again)
You forget this is “recap” Monday? And Locher liked last week’s script so much, I suspect he’s going to “repeat” it all of this week. He’ll pick up the telephone call again on Wednesday (3rd panel) but we won’t be any wiser, as he’ll move on to other items
Effectively, as Professor Grokstein once counseled us ,,, Locher’s “easy going” style - is to release only one, “tit-bit” of progress each week. Meaning, we’ll have only a smidgen of “forward” movement and it’s “elswhere”!
Come back NEXT week Monday, to see the continuation of the Wrist Geenee “call”. I know ! It’s all so frustrating. (but Writer Dicky must “like it so”)
Another poster made the “point” last week, forward movement occurs only Tuesday to Saturday in Locher’s world.
I’ve had a sharp little foray about Dick Tracy on Locher’s Editorial Cartoon Board with some others commenting. Some even “defending” (ie. “we love you Dick”)
I’ve gone there a few times to “catch his eye”, as I know he avoids the “comments” here, but is an avid reader over there !
“I turn to stone, when you are gone, I turn to stone…” (Electric Light Orchestra, “Out of the Blue”; and hey, they use both guitars and violins–give this kid a call!)
Trained he was in the classical arts,
Chopin, Brahms, Liszt and Mozart
But a muse of a different stripe was to whom he did talk
His heart belonged to daddy, but his soul was born to rock
A Stratvari of rare sound and beauty is what he did sell
Took two million instead of ten as a businessman he was a fail
A poor substitute of a violin he sought to put in its place
But dad became incensed and grabbed him by the face
His anger had the better of him so he struck him with the fake
First on one side, then later the other, and no bruises it did make
A midnight call to a chief detective, a common crime to check
There are patrolmen for that job, but the writing is so much dreck
Assault, battery and theft are the crimes so far that we see
What the connection to Tracy is, is a mystery to you and me
Will Locher ever make the case for what is so far fairly muddled
Or will the script meander still because the writer is befuddled?
He needs to bring Della Contessa home to meet his parents. Then he needs to ‘splain it to Pops that he had to sell the Strad in order to feed Della. And think how happy and proud Pops will be when they annonuce together that he is going to be a grandfather! They’ll name it after Marilyn Manson, no matter what gender it is.

Looks like some kind of mythical creature in panel one. Like a centaur or something. Weird.
That’s Jay Leno in Panel 2 working the crowd. Giant head though.
