@Shirttail Slim: I’ve been therel; frustrating isn’t it to write a whole thing and have it disappear into cyber space. It’s discouraging to recreate, but you may be able to recreate an improproved version of the original.

Good morning Vagabonds: In a few minutes I have an appointment with my urogolist. I never mentioned it before, but I’m a survivor of prostate cancer. So far, after about 7 or 8 years, my numbers are very good.

i just logged on to a movie called, “They Shall Have Music,” with Jascha Heifetz and Joel McCrea. I came by it by accident. It was wonderful with violin music by Heifetz. I never realized one can watch a movie on the web FOR FREE. I intend to buy the DVD anyway, now that I’ve seen how great it is.

Morning, Vagabonds!Slim – My suggestion would be to experiment with MS Word. It’s really a lot easier than you’d think. Write your story there and save it after every paragraph. Then cut and paste the new chapter here. Give it a try!Arye – Buena Suerte, mi amigo!

¡hola! vagabundosSlim – is your computer a Mac or Windows? Every Windows computer has an Accessories folder that has, among other things, a very scaled-down version of MS Word called Wordpad. If I am doing a longer post, I type it into Wordpad (where I can save it as I go along). When it’s ready, I just copy and paste the text into the comment box, where my Firefox browser has a rudimentary spellchecker (it underlines the misspelled words and a right click gives me a pop-up menu with the correct spelling). I have MS Word 2010 on my computer, but Wordpad is a slim program that saves by default as a Rich Text File (.rtf) rather than as a code-loded Document File (.doc). I like Wordpad for several reasons & use it a lot. And, BTW, I too have typed into the comment box and then forgotten to hit the Submit button – $%#^&#* :-)

Slim, I am absolutely sure that’s happened to all of us at one time or another. Using Word or Wordpad never occurred to me. Thank you to David and Florchi for the suggestion.

We’re continuing to spiral up to summer here. Had one nice day in the low 90’s over the week-end, but mostly it hovers around 100. If this is spring, won’t summer be fun!!!

    Good Afternoon, Vagabonds,

Had to get a lot of chores done while I had the energy. Since it is raining, I can’t really work out in the garden, so, I’m cleaning my closets and dresser. Donations to the Women’s Shelter!!!

Don’t have “word” or “wordpad”, I do have MS Works. I tried to do cut and paste something, but could not. Probably because I never learnded how. I tend to learn what I need at the moment, and I have never done any Cut and paste? That “learn what you Need”, piece-meal learning habit is one of my bad traits. Did the same thing with my music, pretty much. Get a song in my head, learn a chord progression that sounds right.Another song, learn a new progression. …Been the same on computer. I learn piece by piece, which leaves a lot of gaps in my knowledge? Not too clever, but that’s pretty much the story of my life. Learn as I go, it was just my good fortune to be able to see trouble coming in time to avoid it…… Usually.…So until I’m shown how to cut and paste, I’ll have to remember to SUBMIT!!! ???

Hi Slim: If you are on a Windows computer (any version), you have Wordpad. Start > Programs > Accessories > Wordpad. Or on the newer versions of Windows (Vista & 7), you can just type Wordpad in the box right above the Start button, that appears when you click on the Start button. If you are on an Apple Macintosh – no Wordpad, but you could use Works. Here’s how to copy and paste: 1) Type your story & save it.2) Select your text (highlight it – I use Ctrl + A on Windows).3) Copy – the easiest way on a Windows computer is to right click and then left click “Copy” on the pop-up menu. You can also get to “Copy” using a menu (it’s usually in the Edit menu).4) Paste – go to the gocomics comments box, click so you have an insertion point (like you were going to start typing there) & then right click to get the pop-up menu & then left click “Paste.” Note: Step #3 doesn’t work unless you first do Step #2 and Step #4 doesn’t work unless you first do Step #3.If you are on a Macintosh the instructions may be somewhat different – I don’t have a Mac at home, but may be able to take a look at one at the school where I teach this sort of stuff to come up with specific Mac copy & paste instructions. We’re all looking forward to the next story!

When I Cut-and-paste, I first select the text I want copied with the left mouse button. Then I press Ctrl-C to Copy it and then I click to where it’s going to go. Then I press Ctrl-V to Verify. Try that, Slim.

For clarification, Ctrl-C means to hold down the Ctrl button with one hand and press the C button with the other hand At The Same Time.

This computer is pretty old. It’s an e=machine windows XP. I bought it from the original owner a few years ago. The only thing I;ve done to it (not counting new programs) is change the memory from 512 MB ram to 2000 ram.. I don’t have word or wordbook, nor any other printing program. So…… For now, I will have to remember to submit.? Old guy, old computer. :-)
