Now that I am an adult, I refuse to participate in team sports of any kind. Too many memories of being picked last only to be hectored and belittled by my “teammates”. Those activities don’t teach sportsmanship, but they do prepare children for the real world.

My high school actually HAD bike rides as a PE class. Last period, met twice a week (other days we got out early), and went for a couple hour bike ride.

I remember in high school seeing archery targets in the girls’ gym. Remember wondering how come we didn’t get to do stuff like that. Then I considered the wisdom of turning adolescent boys loose with projectile weapons in a closed room. Didn’t like it, but could see the point.
