As a bachelor, I often ate at a nice little “mom & pop” restaurant with good “home style” food at reasonable prices. There were two big-chain fast food places about a block away. Guess where the employees of the fast food joints came to eat their meals!
… you guys pontificating on the science of obesity are almost as bad as those other guys pontificating on politics …… just hush up so I can enjoy my ice cream …
Carbs are complex sugars, that break down to simple sugars and turn to fat if not burned soon…!piece of toast = a 20 minute walk….I avoid pasta and grains…I’m heavy on “hard” vegetables like broccoli, asparagus, carrots Brussels sprouts, some corn. Too many protein sources get a bad rap…..
The only ‘simple sugars’ our most distant (pre-Neolithic) ancestors ever had access to was honey guarded by wild bee hives. Not exactly drive-through fast food.Nabuquduriuzhur is right about the high fructose corn syrup . . . it’s added to almost everything.
Yes, that’s generally true . . . but the typical (ridiculously high) carb diet of most Americans triggers a huge insulin surge. This surge: 1. initiates mass conversion of blood glucose to fat, and 2. inhibits the actions of fat-burning enzymes on existing fat stores. So that means every time I eat and my Insulin pump gives me a dose to convert that meal to blood glucose it makes me fat. Then why am I only 153 lbs at 5’ 10"?

That does explain a lot about the employees at some of the fast food places I’ve been in.

I don’t think Cliff needs the help. Remember, his real superpower is gluttony.

Carbs make you fat. Sugar and starch. Soda and bread. Not bacon, cheese or burger.

Calories make you fat. Whether from sugar and starch or cheese and bacon, if you eat more than you burn, your body will store the excess.

And Agent X is still green. I’m still leaning towards the “Fast food makes him sick” theory.
