Student: So this one president said this other president was so dumb... he couldn't pass wind and chew gum at the same time!
Frazz: Political science can be fun.
Student: It would be a lot more fun if I could say it the same way Lyndon Johnson did.
Somehow I doubt a real child of that age (or any age) would really have that much of a problem saying âfartâ, even to an adult. The real reason she canât say it is not that sheâs young or that sheâs at school, but because sheâs on the comics page. Bill Watterson even had trouble when he used words as mild as âboogerââŠ
I used to hate Nixon with a passion, but it has fadedâŠAnd in this political climate he would be called a liberalâŠ.Combined, Pacopuddy and Randy have it about right, though
Intelligent in some respects, but not smart enough to play fair. Iâd prefer an average person with integrity over a brilliant but untrustworthy person any day.
It was regarding Gerald Ford and from what I heard the original âcanât walk and chew gum at the same timeâ was the sanitized version âŠ. maybe the original was indeed, âcanât fart and chew gumâ (and what kid doesnât know what âfartâ means â would they say âpass windâ?) LBJ was indeed vulgar and probably would love South Park today
During the Kennedy administration, all the Kennedys liked to mock LBJ behind his back. Supposedly, Jackie Kennedy called LBJ and Lady BIrd âColonel Cornpone and his little porkchop.â Bobby Kennedy hated J. Edgar Hoover almost as most as he hated LBJ, and he enjoyed calling Hoover âJ. Edna Hoover.â
I actually have a 3rd degree connection to Richard Nixon. Seems my wifeâs family and the Nixon family shared a house in Washington DC for part of a year when he was a CA congressman. By all accounts Iâd heard, he was a charming and humorous person.
jcm1655, so now we have people who believe the president thinks there are 57 statesâŠâŠâŠthatâs even scarierâŠespecially since you know in your heart itâs not even true and was just a misstatementâŠâŠâŠâŠRawMoney has measured all the trees in Michigan, and has claimed that all the trees are the right size. Right out of the shoot he showâs heâs wrong. For me they are never large enough, for him the right size is when they are chopped downâŠ.better think these things through a little more, dudeâŠ.
Nice to hear comments about Pres. Nixon that donât come from the news media. After losing an election in â60, from ballot box stuffing, in two states, Iâd be a little bitter too. Watergate wasnât even breaking and entering, let alone high crimes and treason. What a hatchet job.
I never heard it phrased that way, and I lived through it. He was always an âunindicted co-conspiratorâ; I think youâve assumed the âCRIMINALâ part of the sobriquet from the nature of the acts. As to your glowing memory of the Democrats and your silly dis of Republicans, well, I guess we know who youâre voting for in November.

Actually, he was talking about Gerald Ford, who was at that time House Minority Leader.
And Nixon was smarter than LBJ, anyway.

Reminds me of the time Betty Ford was asked what sort of birth control she & Jerry used. She replied that she simply gives him a stick of gum!

I never hated Nixon. He was the coolest President we ever had. âTricky Dickâ was the best.

A quote allegedly attributed to LBJ was, "It took me 30 years to learn to say the word âNegroâ, and they go and change it on me to âblackâ.

Are you claiming that âintelligentâ and âcriminalâ are mutually exclusive?

That was LBJ referring to Ford.
