Do you realize that at least half of each group will say the other side is pronouncing it wrong and that they canât speak proper English? Kinda like some folks from Mass pronouce Harvard as Havad (itâs that Boston accent).

Pig, you should really start a peace movement in Louisville. Some say âLoo-ee-ville,â others âLoo-a-ville,â still others âLoo-ville.â A few even say âLoo-is-ville.â They could sure use one of your peace marches.

It occurred to me that todayâs strip might be a tribute (of sorts) to Rodney King, who died on June 17th. He was alluded to, but not named, in earlier comments.

@ Nabuquduriuzhur, that reminds me of the New Yorker who asked a tourist where he was from. When the tourist replied, âIowa,â the local replied frostily, âWell! Here in New York, we pronounce it âOhioâ!â

While weâre at it, why do folks in Arkansas pronounce it âArkânsawâ? And donât get started on pronunciations here in TexasâŚif youâve never heard of Nacogdoches, you couldnât possibly say it the way a local would.

Iâm surprised that Goat, that fount of knowledge, did not point out the correct pronunciation, which is neither ANT nor AWNT, but AHNT! And that BTW, is the Bostonese prinunciation.

lol ! The transformation of Pig from panel 2 to panel 3 was remarkable. These cartoon characters . . . the way they can adopt an entire I.C.E. (âintegrated clothing ensembleâ) in seconds. Bugs Bunny used to do this trick.

Thereâs a town in Nebraska called Norfolk. Phonetically, it should be pronounced with an âlâ. The original Norfolk in England was pronounced Norfohk. In Nebraska, it is pronounced NorFORK â no exceptions.
The horror.

I pronounce it âahntâ, but I have no idea what pronunciation that spelling suggests to an American.
