Tracy knowing whatâs going onâŚSam is under the bed with his gun on his chestâŚThis is well written & well drawn. A different sort of scenario than ever seen before. Thank you once again, Team Tracy!
This is a tight spot for Tracy and Catchem both. Stiletta is probably carrying her beltful of knives; maybe she plans to use a different one on Tracy for each of her lost children and her thug-husband, carving him up bit by bit. Sam doesnât have have a clear shot at anything but ankles and legs unless he rolls out from under the bed and exposes himselfânot a safe maneuver. It seems to me Samâs best bet is to lie low until heâs alone with Tracy again, then try to get out alive until he can get some backup. The danger is that Stiletta may intend to start âoperatingâ on Tracy before that can happenâŚ.
Tracy should have already figured out he wasnât in a hospital, unless Stiletta has some really strong hospital disinfectant to cover up the cigarette smell.
Two strips in a row that Samâs not smoking! Iâm hoping that this one plays out a while longer and becomes a little more complex as I donât want a quick ending but I donât want to see Moonmaid come to the rescue of both of them either. Just doesnât seem to fit into this scenerio.
The railroad cop is 100% wrong about âcopâ. âCopâ is an English colloquialism for âcatchâ, deried from West Frisian kÄpia, âto take awayâ, and is related to German kaufen, âto buyâ. A copper is someone who cops a criminal, and the word was informally shortened back to âcopâ.Almost any time a word is supposed to derive from an acronym, that etymology is probably wrong. There are some genuine modern examples, like laser, sonar, radar and scuba, but most older words sometimes said to come from acronyms do not. Some examples:âfor unlawful carnal knowledgeââgentlemen only, ladies forbiddenââport out, starboard homeââspecial high-intensity trainingââstore high in transitâ
Regarding the Crimestoppers Textbook: there was an Alley Oop story where King Guz promoted him to Chief Of Police. All the cavemen started calling Alley âCOPâ because thatâs what the abbreviation on his helmet spelled. This annoyed him until one of the other cavemen said, "It could have been worse, Oop. Guz could have made you âPolice Investigator General.â
Runar and NightShade09. Enough already. Pull in the fangs and let your fur down.I am going to give a bit of a spoiler:SPOILER WARNINGIf you read the first three words in todayâs Crimestoppers Textbook you will note they say COP â PART ONE:. I will now inform you that next week will be COP â PART TWO: and the week following COP â PART THREE:. Each is a different take on the origin of the word. Both of them have already been mentioned in todays comments, and YES, Runar wins for being the most commonly accepted, âcorrectâ meaning.OK, (another interesting word to look up the origin of) Now back to Tracy

Love how this is unfolding. Will Sam pop out with gun blazing? Or will he be discovered? I really like the 2nd to last panel, too.

I love the look of Tracy in the last panel. He almost looks like heâs trying NOT to smile. (Get âem, Sam!)

The second to last panel is very Frank Robbins-esque.
