Well … I know a guy that told me this very story. He and his brother would sneak out on the roof outside their room around 10 at night and start howling. Pretty soon, every dog in the neighborhood was howling back.
Why couldn’t Calvin wait until just before dawn? You know, when the paper boy shows up. Then dad wouldn’t have to reach so far for the paper to swat him with!(Irony would be hitting him with the comics page.)
Dog shock collars can be dangerous under certain conditions.I read a story once where an amateur was trying out an amplifier and when he went key-down, the neighbors dog started howling! At the time he didn’t think much of it, since the dog was one to howl at anyting. But then he heard someone outside shouting "The dog’s on fire!It seems his signal overloaded the receiver on the collar, causing it to not just give a brief jolt, but to continualy zap, causing the fur to ignite!
“But Dad, I’m just leading the National Anthem of Dogdom! It’s called “The Star-Spangled Doggie Blanket”, ah ha ha ha ha ha… Get it? Ha ha ha ha ha ha…!(Calvin sulking back in bed, Dad having just put him back there…): “Geez, I thought it was funny!”

The remedy would be…a warm cup of milk, a warm bottom and a warm bed.

I encourage my dog to howl when the town’s noon lunch siren goes off, several other dogs across town can also be heard. And I am NOT a kid!

Sometimes I wonder if Calvin’s parents look back and wish that they had looked into family planning?

Calvin must live in my neighborhood. Always wonder what gets all the dogs started howling at each other.

I found as a kid that you don’t need to bark. In fact, a soft cough as you walk down the street works really well at getting all the dogs barking.
Vonne Anton almost 12 years ago
You said: “Pepper spray, the cure for constantly barking dogs.”-Yeah, but they’ll get in a spot of trouble if they hit Calvin with that.

Oooooh…. You’ll probably get a spanking now, Calvin.
Either now or in the morning.

@orinoco womble,“You give me fever” sounds more like an affliction than a remedy, but since you like Peggy Lee, that takes the “Sting” out of it.
