Since today’s strip is such an old joke and since recently people have been talking about humor songs (Ray Stevens and others), I’m just going to toss out one of my song parodies here. (I hope this doesn’t make me a “selfish horde” and people don’t HAVE to read the dang thing…..I should point out that I left out the chorus, because, like Andy Capp, I have a very short attention span.)
Anthrax for exes and witches with hexesSabre-toothed tigers and fierce T-rexesSteam-rollered silkworms and flies without wingsThese are a few of my favorite things
Serpents with smallpox and raccoons with rabiesMean virus teens and bacteria babiesDaggers in princes and axes in kingsThese are a few of my favorite things
Plutonium Plato and lead AristotleAnd all other “wise men” I’d cheerfully throttleTolstoy with tetanus, Shakespeare with stingsThese are a few of my favorite things
The garden is looking rough this year as I have not weeded very religiously. I had sent away for some bindweed gall mites and gave some to Joe. The mites are supposed to get inside the bindweed and feed on it, I think. Anyway, by causing galls (nodules) to form on the plant it is supposed to slow the growth and spread of those things. They go all over the place. So to that end I have left the bindweed alone, along with most of the other weeds. Have been busy elsewise too. When I first came here over nine years ago he told me how the ground by the property line had been gardened on in the past and being an old farmhand as he is, talked about that kind of stuff. He showed me the area in front of his house where he grows the irises and carrots, larkspur and some other stuff. I am sure it was his main garden before he got a space over at the Ball Aerospace employees garden area [where he used to do mechanical design drafting]. We talk and compare notes.
I see some really cool, fine peeps in comics world myself nudge nudge, wink wink. Yeah, that thing I do with the hours ago was something that people sometimes did at Pibgorn when it was alive. I like how you Capp ’toons linkers caption those. It adds sooo much. Hope your sleep was good.
You and Joe sound like a pretty cool gardening team to me. I know zilch about gardening so reading your reply was new and interesting to me.
I could make a great big list of people on GoComics whose comments I enjoy. It would take me all night though. You would be on it of course!
Vancouver is lovely! But I have to say the time difference is astounding. We both (my friend Helen and I ) woke up at like 5 am which is about 7 am our usual time. So we had breakfast and went for a walk. Nothing opened before 9 so we had lots of time to talk and walk. We went to the museum (Seafarers) and were hungry again by then, 1030am so we went to a “cafe” and had the “appetiser”, and tea, then had sandwiches and more tea. lol Sorry I cant be more specific, but it is so illegal at home. Because of the time change we both got tired around 3 pm and came back to the Sheraton and napped but I woke up hungry again so I just had “tea”. It would be lunch where I live. Sandwiches and cake, and cookies too! I am a cookie monster so I scarfed up the cucumber sandwiches and tea, then ate every cookie they sent up on the platter! lol And I am still meeting Helen for dinner around 8 pm. I swear thats like 10 pm for us usually, so I am not sure of how much we are going to eat. We will probably just have Asti Spumante instead and get a wee bit enibrated. Sounds like a plan to me anyway! He he hee!

I’d be more worried that she is pouring a casserole than the fact that the sausage is missing! Eww!
