Peter dies.

Peter died a quiet death at the home of a friend.

Peter is most likely Autistic and he’s thought this out over and over and over again. He’s absolutely worried that his girlfriend’s mother won’t approve of the size and quality of the ring in question. Being autistic he just blurts out what’s constantly been on his mind.
