Why are they making fun of fishing line instead of putting it to use? If I could bike to a little pier like that I would go fishing all the time! Somebody needs to give these boys a rod and reel.

I think the the joke with its punch line was fine – but perhaps deserving of a punch in the shoulder.

It takes courage to have your characters comment on how unfunny the joke was. It brings it all the way around to funny again.
